Unbelievable !!!

Live and learn indeed.

I've just learned that members of the Fabian Society drive hypercars around London :thumb:
What you have learnt is that the left wing have double standards.

Fabians such as Khan are happy to prevent normal folk going about their lawful business but do nothing to stop the super emitters within society. That is the people with hypercars, multiple houses worldwide and private jets.

You could test your Fabian society hypercar hypothesis by having a peek in the underground garage just next to the Fabian Society 48 Petty France next time you are in SW1.:thumb:

Hmm. The thing with hypercars is that most of them will be Euro 6 compliant and thus emit very little of the locally harmful pollutants that the ULEZ is tackling. The ULEZ is not about carbon emissions and saving the planet, it’s about NOx and SOx emissions and saving the people living by main roads.

Bizarrely a Euro 5 VW Golf will be doing more harm in this respect than a new Huracan. Hence why those of us with large petrol engines are not subject to the ULEZ.

Spoilsport! There goes a great secret society conspiracy theory....

True, but only if you've heard about London ULEZ and know what to expect. Which is precisely what the letter does....
It's reasonable to guess that this postal campaign will be cheaper than the £9million spent by Cameron's during the Brexit campaign, but quantifiable.
It would be interesting to compare that to how much would be written off if non compliant cars from outside Gtr London were given a waiver for an introductory period.
It isn't feasible to capture all the unaware bods, forever.

'Moves to expand London's ultra low emission zone in October will help 130,000 asthmatics breathe more easily, according to a new study by charity Asthma UK.

About 200,000 people with asthma live within the boundaries of the expanded zone, compared to just 8,600 living in the current central London area.

A survey for Asthma UK revealed that 67.5 per cent of asthma sufferers outside the current ULEZ area in London said their condition was made worse by air pollution.'

'Ruth Fitzharris, campaigner at Mums for Lungs, said her four year old son is 'one of the many children in London who are severely affected by air pollution.'

'He has been to hospital on 12 occasions with breathing difficulties and two of his attacks were life threatening,' she explained.

'I'm really a glad about the impact the Ultra Low Emission Zone has had and that it's being expanded in October this year. More needs to be done to ensure all of London's can kids grow up healthy.'

It’s possible that there might be a waiver period, or at least a grace period. When the Dart Charge was introduced I crossed without paying (knew about it, just forgot...) and received a nice letter saying that if I paid the Charge immediately they would let me off the fine just this once. I haven’t ever forgotten to pay it again!

But the Dart Charge is the Highways Agency, not TfL, so it could be that TfL don’t allow this.

A request to make said payment sounds like a lot less letters.

But then the horses have bolted...

The purpose of the ULEZ charge is to deter drivers of polluting car from entering the city.

Lying in wait and them sending them a letter 24 hours after the event is completely missing the point.

The Euro 6 standard started from Autumn 2015. Plenty of supercars made prior to this date.

Always find it odd that people living in one of the biggest cities on earth complain about pollution when they live there to afford themselves a better standard of living, presumiably so they can consume more stuff ad infinitum.

I’ve personally never noticed the pollution and I’m on a bike in London most days. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The perfect ruse for climate lockdowns. Something to look forward to if you live in the 'dirty old town'.

Asthma has been a manageable condition for a long time in the UK. It is getting to see a GP face to face to get that management that is the problem.

Sounds fun Darrell.:thumb:

Odd that innit. Breathing in all those terrible fumes. Maybe Khans "Breathe London" pollution sensors are telling porky pies.

Just telling it as I find it. When did you last ride through central London and the City?

Never ridden a bike in the Capital. Have ridden in traffic in other places though and only thing i have ever noticed is the eggy smell of catalytic converters and the niff of petrol from classic cars.

The Dart charge is on Dartford tunnel, and i think that is owned by the french now, so you know its going to a good place :wallbash: :wallbash::mad:
