I noticed tonight that the n/s front and rear passenger footwells are incredibly wet in the whole footwell
The water is definately coming from underneath.
The o/s foot wells are bone dry.
All the n/s window seals have just been replaced, and the car was given a full waxoyl in October last year.
Can anyone please give me an idea as to what on earth is going on?

Many thanks,

Darren

I remember someone once saying to check the water run off holes below the windscreen, where the wipers are, sometimes they get blocked and water goes elsewhere rather than escaping the correct way. Just a thought!

check the ac condenser drainage pipes under the car, the could be blocked and backing water into the cabin? also, check where the wires come into the car from the engine bay, the rubber seals may have rotted away. also check the front doors (area where they connect to the body) and make sure all the rubber bits are on tight

Does anyone want to see mini puddles inside a car? Also some sodden carpets!

The foam under the front n/s carpet is soaking!

I'd be very very surprised if it was coming from underneath, upwards.

It's going to be something like water coming through windscreen seals, blocked/broken drainage tubes - aircon, sunroof etc.

Unlikely, but heater matrix? You should've noticed the leaks and the colour/smell though.

Can you remove the carpet as much as possible (mats etc at least) and get someone to hose the car down whilst you look for leaks?

Will

From the replies to far, it's good to hear it isn't anything structural! That was my main concern! Thank you very much guys :)
The car was going to my garage on Monday, anyway, so I'll get them to give it a full check.

In my previous pic post I forgot to show the front n/s foot well :o
So here it is ;)

Door seals at the bottom?? The fact you got the N/S window seals done recently might be something to do with it?? While the trim is out get an assistant to play a hose on areas under suspicion. You got to do this over narrow/limited areas at a time to localise the leak. Meanwhile you stay in the car and with torch ( a la CSI!!! ) look for trickles of water.

Odds on its the drain channels below the windscreen....probably blocked with years of crud. Unbend a coat hanger and prod away!

Blocked drains or a broken drain hose on the transmission tunnel - if you lift the carpet on the side of the tunnel you should be able to see: just left of parking brake.

have you got a sunroof ?My friends s class had tis problem and it turned out to be the drain holes in the sunroof runners (just my 2 pennith )regards jon ..ps hope you sort out the problem

I'm attending a car meeting tomorrow, so I had to clean the E Coupe today. I pressure washed her, shampoo'ed her, and then hosed her off. And not a sign of water getting in anywhere?!
I'm glad it isn't pouring in, but I'd still like to know what it was! LOL

Bearing this in mind, is the genreal consensus still a blocked drainage hole, and that maybe a force of water has unblocked it?

hope you find the fault and have a good day tomorrow:bannana: regards jon

Hi guys!

Just a quick update, in case anyone who replied was wondering....

The car went to my Merc Specialist today, and I informed them about the leak. It wasn't the air con, or the heater matrix, and not even the wind screen drainage hole.
It turned out to be a drainage hole in the n/s sill. Apparently a dis-lodged gromit had blocked the hole, causeing the sill to fill with water, and then over-flow into the car!
However, it has all be sorted now! :D

Thanks again for the replies!

Darren
