Hi all, my serpitine belt tensioner is playing up. Its the one with the dampner on (not the normal type)

I cannot remove the lower bolt of the tensioner without removing the crank pulley

Will the crank pulley have to come off ?? It looks like a bloody big bolt !!

Cheers

Twist Before you start spray it with penetrating oil or dab some diesel on with a brush . Good luck ,i dont know about your car.But some one will help you soon. Keep looking in.

You need a locking pin to lock it in place. The new tensioner may have one on it.

Is your belt flapping?

Yeah black. The piston side of the tensioner has become weak. I could not get to the fixing plate bolt because of the crank pulley. So I split the tensioner in 2 and performed a hybrid of old and new parts.

What a poor design.

Quite often if the belt flaps the freewheeling alternator pulley has seized.

Hi black. I have replaced the free idol pulleys, the water pump and the tensioner. They were all mashed.

Looking good now. Just waiting on new belt

Have you ever had bad vibrating air boxes.?? I have installed new rubber grommets but it still vibrates bad and makes the car sound like a tank.

Have you replaced the ones inside the air box? Behind the filter?

Yes. 2 rubbers at the rear and 2 at the front

Hi, my airbox does the same. When i checked inside i found that someone took it off and when tried to put the screws back has ruined the thread. So now ,they can't go inside all the way, so i have shortened them. I still have to get the top rings.

My airbox just pushes into place using rubbers. Had enough of the vibrations from it. So I'm fixing the sodding thing down to the metal sheet underneath it

Is there a bleed point for the water system, or does it self bleed ???

Need a big top up after swapping the water pump
