Hi,

Not sure whether it's the correct place but wanted to share a bargain.

I'm using Nexus 4 for navigation and if you do so you'll probably know that it requires 2.1A. I was looking to buy this one from Amazon for £18 but for my luck it became out of stock:
2.1 Volt dual USB Car Lighter Power Point in Black, 2.1 Amp, Scosche

During my shopping yesterday at ASDA on the car accessories I found another car charger with the same characteristics for just £8. I didn't believe that but tested it successfully yesterday - it was able to charge my phone while using GPS and Navigation:
Rockland USB Charger | Car Accessories | ASDA direct

Definitely the Schosche looks better and it's smaller, has low profile so you can safely close the ashtray. With the Rockland I still can close the ashtray if I push little bit harder, not I'm doing it but just saying.

Hope someone will find it useful.

Regards.

Oh my ... and I thought that was a deal (facepalm) :fail

For small electronic accessories, fleabay is hard to beat... lot's of sellers advertise direct from China and use drop-shipping companies in the UK.

£8 isn't bad for a brick and mortar store for a 2amp charger - I reckon most people won't know the difference between that and a normal 1amp charger though!

Except that the fleabay job as far as I can see is unbranded. I tend (having had some bad experiences) to use only genuine Apple stuff or from reliable makes like Belkin. Seems to me daft to save a few quid when consequences can be a bit pricey.

To each their own - I've started avoiding branded stuff when it comes to apple cables... had enough of the original iphone 5 cable disintegrating.

I'm now using a flat noodle cable (with gaudy led's that light up on either end) and it seems to be the strongest thing yet...

As you say to each their own. My experience has been the opposite. Just about every non branded accessory (particularly cables) I have bought has died one way or another. All the Apple/Kensington/Belkin stuff is still going strong.

Would you have an ebay number this cable. I am growing a spaghetti tree out dead iphone 5 cables/ I may construct a Bob Marley Stylee Wig out of them.

Word of warning, it's not white (though it looks white on eBay) - it's actually pink :p

I was gonna say... £8 is quite a lot for a charger these days.

You can get a white USB cigarette charger for 99p (ebay item: 251359108044) which supplies 2.1A. I have on in my glove box... essential bit of kit for me these days!

Touche, yeah I figure out that and when I think I was going to buy the one from £18

Thanks anyway.

So, before I go for another "deal" do you have an idea for a good car holder mount, particularly to hold Nexus 4/5 ?

Thanks!

I have a tetrax magnetic system and a rigid clip on case to use in the car with my nexus 5.
Cost about £13 all in but is so much better than anything else I've tried.

Thanks!
