I need some advice.

I am not using my W211 E320cdi very much at the moment and have got a Ctek XS7000 charger to condition the battery.

Depending on whether the battery is a negatively grounded battery or postively grounded battery dictates how you connect the charger up.

Could someone advise me if my battery is negatively grounded or postively grounded so that I know how to connect up. I don't want to incorrectly connect it and cause other problems.

Thanks

Hi, the negative lead (Black)will be the one connected to earth (ground), positive earthing died a death in the 60's along with dynamos and control boxes. The positive lead (Red)carries the power to he electrics.

remember once in a while you may want to condition the small consumers battery in the engine compartment too...

Tnx for that, could you tell us where it is please, I charge the battery in the boot often and leave the charger on if the car is parked up for a few days or longer.

Cheers

:)

Thanks for the reply guys, I will give it a go today.

...and Jay I would be interested to know where the smaller battery is located.

The small (AUX or SBC) battery is at the engine compartment, under the HVAC dust filter.

How is the aux. batt. normally charged, Is it via the main batt or seperate circuit, if so, should this aux batt. need to be charged seperately to the main batt. I'm assuming the main batt. needs an external re-charge FLT.ENG

I left the Cytek to charge overnight and when I started the car, definietly started much quicker, so the charger has appeared to have done the trick without disconnecting the battery.:)

I am going to leave it on as I don't drive the car much at the moment.

Now that I am aware of the 2nd battery-does that need to be charged as well?
