VERY high mileage W220!

Yet another example of CDI longevity. Car looks remarkable for that number of miles

My customers S320CDI timing chain snapped at 500,000

Everything was worn out. Seats, brakes, command, suspension, gearbox etc

All if my Mercedes will be completly rusted away before they get to that mileage, suspect I will be in bits also......

To me it's worth no more than £1000 with no history and over 400k miles.

I wouldn't pay anything over that either.

I've had 123s with double that mileage, though, and a 116 with almost treble/triple that :D

Didn't realise MB made cars that would stand that sort of mileage after the 124 ceased production.

To be fair, engineering wise (mechanically), the W210 is a pretty safe bet. After all, many parts are shared between the two (engines, gearboxes etc).

Several W210s with 1/2 mill miles by now I'd have thought.

Rust, and the odd electrical gremlin are probably bigger issues than mileage-related issues such as worn engines etc.

W123/W116s did tend to rust away to nothing before reaching steller milages though...

Indeed they did.

But the ones that were looked after would hit the silly miles.

My 280SE (116) had 1120000 on her, and another one had 802000!

Mad for a petrol engine.

1120000 at 10mpg, how much must that have cost.

I agree with Will, a 300TD W210 would be good for at least 500k miles without much needing to be done, after all Sprinters with near enough the same engine last forever.

The 116 was giving about 15mpg, and 20ish on a run.

Not arguing with the mileage - awesome really.

My Dad runs a few Sprinters for his business. I recall a T reg one I helped him with having around 380k on its clock.

At 15mpg would that be 74666 gallons of petrol it got through?

At £5 a gallon £373000 worth!

I only ever managed 10mpg from the various 280E/SEs I've had, but then they were at the end of their lives.

My 1983 280SE would give about 7mpg.

Had it for 4 days..... Must be the worst engine they ever made for economy in relative terms.

Their 1st DOHC effort, I believe.
