w123 280ce rear window vents

Hi, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.. i have a 280ce 1984 and behind the rear window frame on each side are 3 square vents.. mine are just holes in the bodywork and presume they should have a cover on them.. can anyone advise.. looks also like there was some sort of foam in them too but has perished

There is no cover over the vents - they're just concealed behind the chrome trim behind the window.

Thanks should they have a foam in them, as there are a few bits that look like it was foam at some point?

They did have some insulation originally, my saloon lost it ages ago! I wouldnt worry about it.

As above, they are just covered by the chrome trim.
