Hi

my exhaust is making a noise very similar to a moped. assuming the worst, i'm after some advise on where to get a fix for it on the cheap. i've yet to have a proper look myself, but it snapped in half about a year ago and was welded up, so a proper fix/replacement is probably well overdue.

can anyone advise the cheapest way of replacing this? can anyone recommend any decent companies that sells the sections cheap or companies that can make one or decat or whatever....

companies would have to be within reach of Edinburgh.

thanks!

Derek

Just to update this a little bit;

i got a great quote from Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems - Longlife Exhausts that will build me a custom WHOLE de-catted stainless exhaust, from the manifold back for about £400. Seems a good price.

BUT checked today and the sound isnt the catalist at all - its a mount. hopefully a quick turn with my socketset tonight will sort it all out and my exhaust lives on! :bannana:

What's the deal with de-catting the exhaust? Are we allowed to do this?

I ask as I will need a new system or mine will fail its MoT in August (if the exhaust last that long).

I had a hole near the cat welded up a couple of years ago, which is now just about the only sound part on the system. The back box is blowing as well, giving a very low growl.

Cats don't come into an MOT at all, petrol or Diesel, the only requirement is that it passes the emissions test, which a reasonably well kept diesel will.
