I have fitted some aftermarket Clear Eagle Eye Projector lights to a W124 (pre-facelift) In the day time they look the Shizz-Nizz but of a night when i actually need them to see the road their a load of old plop. I'm sure they must be way out of adjustment but besides that there are fragmented spots of light aimlessly all in the wrong places, it must be a nightmere for on-coming traffic & as for the law... I'm 100% getting pulled the next time we cross paths.

Have i picked up a shoddy aftermarket set of projector lights or is this normal?

I also picked up a HID conversion kit 4300k which would be absolutely spanking if they worked when i asked them to, Quick Question regarding the HID kit:- Can i run high "Kelvin" bulbs on my kit that came with 4300k or will i need meaner Balastes?

PLease reply, many regards

Need more info on the headlights and the HID kit you bought.
If you bought a proper HID kit then they come with ballasts. Im assuming you just bought bulbs?

Yes i bought a kit which comprises of 2x ballasts 2x 4300K xenon H7 bulbs & idiot proof wiring. I wondered would i need better ballasts to power up 6000K - 10000K or do i just buy in the bulbs?

Sorry should of worded it better really

Changing the colour temperature on the bulbs won't help - it just changes the apparent colour of the light. Different bulbs will work withthe same ballasts

What HID kit did you get? Is it an H4 bulb replacement xenon or bixenon kit or a replacement headlamp unit?

matec kit came with H7 4300K. Do you know if you can run 2-3 bulbs in series off of one Ballast unit?? Eg:- Dipp H7, Full H1 & Fog H1

I'm very unlucky when it comes to buying stuff on-line. the projectors have like a V shaped pattern rather than the usual flat line & kick up. The Xenon kit i bought arrived with a dead bulb & it looks as though im not getting refunded so i am having to buy more in, just wondered if i was able to use other K rated bulbs with my current Ballastes.

Anyway i've since been to see my MOT tester mate today who show me exactly how shoddy my pattern really was. He adjusted them the best he could but they probably still aint legal. I'm very tempted to slip the stock lights back on & try xenons in them

Theres a few guys in the Kuwait MB Club with 500E that have those projector lights fitted to their cars with HID too.

As far as I know they are made in Thailand and sold by a company called "Crazy The God" on ebay. It does state that they are EU/UK approved and certified but to be honest I dont really think they are and are more intended for show use only. Hence why they throw the light everywhere in random places.

I too considered getting these projector lights for my W124 but then after reading into it more, I didnt have a good feeling about it so I opted out. The standard lights fitted with Bi-Xenon HID (8000K) kits look a million times better and this is the path I will be going down soon.

Yeah the stock lights look the bomb, nice retro look fits with the rest of the car but I'm not sure how legal HID lights are when fitted into headlamps designed for halogan.

I dont see the problem using them to be honest, new cars have xenons and the majority of the tuning world have installed xenons in their tuner cars so why not? If it was illegal, sure enough the shops wouldnt be selling them.

They produce excessive glare when fitted to headlamp that usually house a halogen bulb apparently. check out youtube.

If people buy it, shops sell it... legal or not

Thats true I guess. There is another version of the clear style headlamps available from Crazy the God...

Ive seen loads of these fitted onto W124s with Xenon conversions. My friend had this on his 124 a while ago and it look pretty good, its spread and angle throw was just as good as the original. The only downside is by upgrading to these sort of lights, you lose the dripping control for the main beam.
