im about to buy a 1994 w124 e320 convertible (fingers crossed) with twin cream electric seats

but the seats are quite worn due to it being in direct sunlight & the bolster is worn

ive got 2 other w124 coupes and one has near mint twin electric cream electric seats

both cars are 1994, both cream, both electric

how easy is it to swap the front seats?

Hi,
As long as neither cars have the memory function it should just be a straight swap.
Move the seat all the way forward, undo the rear mounting bolts, possibly torx headed bolts, once removed move the seat all the way back and remove the front seat mounting bolts.
The plugs for the motors and heater (if fitted) are accessable from the front of the seat and should unplug easily, the passenger seat is identical but will have an additional plug for the passenger airbag if fitted.

cheers

just remembered the convertible has heated seats and the other dont, if i swap them then they wont be heated, is that right

both have passenger air bags

The heating elements for the w124 leather seats are sewn into the leather cover (and nla) so you can't easily swap the pads between seat covers. Maybe you could add some after market seat heaters and wire them up to the relays/switches already in the cab?

i have no need for heated seats but new looking seats is much more important so ill just swap them over

Might be worth ringing around for a quote if you decided to keep the original heated seats GFP. I had a quote of £100.00 to renew a strip of leather for the bolster which is worn on my drivers seat and approx £40.00 per seat to rejuvenate them.

That was with a firm called Cass Brothers who are in Bromley (Kent) - they've been there since the 60's and are pretty well established, but obviously a trek for you! Might be worth starting a new thread to see if anyone knows of a firm a bit nearer to you.

Maybe worth giving them a buzz GFP with what you require and they'll be able to give you a time frame - ask them the process to how they match the colouring to the rest of the seats after putting in the new piece of leather too:
