Hi all.
I'm posting as i'm stuck, and hope someone could help.
I use forums for Aprilia, Yamaha, Triumph and house renovating, but never needed to browse the MB forums as the pair of cars have always been bobby dazzler! Until now!
I bought an iCarsoft i980 to diagnose an ESP/ABS/Tyre pressure error on my wifes little W169 (2010, A160 Petrol Blue Efficiency). I thought it was a sensor problem, but its not....
I ran the diagnostics and got a 48B1 L6/3 (left rear speed sensor): Test wiring / plug connection error.
Thats easy, I thought, order a new one and off we go, but before I do that, I'll swap the RH one over (same part number A169 540 15 17 - 1) and make sure, and lone behold, I get the same error. Bugger! Its not the sensor its self, as the RH side works, its the LH rear that doesn't.
So i whipped the LH rear wheel off, caliper off, disk off, cant see the transmission sender as its located inside the sealed hub.. so i squirted a load of WD40 in the sensor locator hole to wash out the gunk, and i made sure that none leaked on the brake pads...;-)
Still get the error.
When I drive and check the rpm sensor I get zero reading from the LH rear.
I took off the ABS cpu plug, squirted with WD just in case washer overflow had seeped in, but it was clean as a whistle.
I'm stuck, any ideas?
Could the CPU have gone?
Dont think it could be the transmission sender as its sealed, but maybe?
Any help would be very welcome, appreciate this is my first post, and forums are built on community contribution, but tbh both our Mercs have been brill so far.... maybe this is the start of frequent sessions.......
Cheers Guys
Rob
