Currently trying to fashion up a dipstick for checking the gearbox oil.
I've used the level measurements for the dipstick from the photo on an old thread here.
My first attempt looked the business but was too stiff and wouldn't go round the bends (an old VHF arial).
My second attempt is an gear cable from a bicycle (much more flexible, but maybe too thin at 1.2mm) and if you push it in too hard it can bend/pop out and continue round the rest of the gearbox (not good if the engine is running...).
So, I have shoved the cable all the way in to what I think is the bottom. I have marked the exact point where the dipstick enters the dip-tube. Measuring this I get that the bottom of the recess where the dipstick sits to the top of the dip-tube to be 913mm (give or take a bit).
Can anyone confirm this measurement?
Cheers, Chris
