Numpty question  - what's the knack to refitting the detachable clip pictured? The other five (fixed) clips for the air filter cover fold over easily from below, but this one seems 'wrong' when presented to the cover. I know it fits somehow, because I removed it earlier and the grooves were facing upwards, but now I'm mystified. The plastic part doesn't swivel very far and the whole alignment with the cover is puzzling. Should this clip be fitted first and if so, how?

If this clip is absent for any length of time, does it cause any issues?

Thanks for any advice!

Your photo was much appreciated Dec - thanks.

I'm still puzzling over this though. Here's a new close-up of the cover - could there be another part missing? I still see no way the clip can fit at the angle required :o.

Perhaps I'll need to go cap in hand to the dealership...

There is a notch that the “wire” part hooks on to, the wire doesn’t go straight down, see picture.

That's great...how do you rustle up these fantastic photos and instructions so quickly?? :D.

When looking from above, does the clip go the left or the right? I'm guessing left, but can't really make it out. It could just help to know when searching for the notch.

Thanks again.

It’s easy when you know how.

When you do it once it should be easy in the future, there is very little space between the coolant tank and the Air box, you will have to feel, with the wire, and then hook on to the little notch as illustrated below.

The illustration is as seen from the drivers seat.

Finally worked out that the rubber part was sitting the wrong way round on the metal part - no idea how that happened . No wonder it looked wrong to me. Anyway, metal clip pulls apart and the rubber can then be reseated in the correct position. After that it was easy. Big thanks again Dec :thumb:

Well done Dec, impressively fast answering, i was slipping my shoes on to go look at mine till i saw your answers cover it all :thumb:
