W202 Avantgarde Grille Rust

Hi All,

In November 2009, I purchased a W202 Avantgarde Grille from Dronsfields.
Recently it has began to rust around the frame and the insert. I can clean it off, but it keeps appearing.

What can I do to prevent it from rusting without having to clean the rust off?

Is there something I could spray over it?

Mine did that, in the end I gave up trying to stop it and got a replacement from Dronsfields, my origional one wasn't genuine, have you got a genuine one on yours?

Ive had 2, both aftermarket, 1st one was on 3 years and the current one is 3 and a half years no rust...

I don't know whether its a genuine one or not. I doubt it is. I ordered it from the Dronsfields website.

Today I cleaned off the rust again. The insert isn't so bad, but the frame is. Would it be possible to use the frame from my original W202 grille, and use the Avantgarde insert with it?

Yes it is, use my guide in the HOWTO section of this forum to help you remove it etc..

Ah, so its the actual frame that is rusting, my Dads W210 grill is aswell and its OEM
