I can jack up my W202 using a trolley jack on the rubberised jacking point. But how do I support the car on axle stands on the rear without removing the jack first?
I generally use ramps to support my cars when working underneath , normally I reverse up onto the back ones , then jack the front up and place ramps under the front wheels .
If you cannot do this because you are working on brakes etc. , you can jack up as before then place the axle stand under the lower wishbone .
To jack up the rear of a W202 , put a wooden block on the pad of your trolley jack and use the differential housing to raise the car high enough to locate your axle stands under the rubber jacking pads.
I thought differential jacking was a no-no nowadays with lightweight diff housings coupled to fully independent rear suspension
I always place the axle stands under the lower wishbone pivot points - outer points by preference or inner points if they are innacessible or if the work requires clearance round the wheel.
Like the trade I've always used a trolly jack with wooden block under the diff or front engine cross member.Diff casings are cast metal well secured to the rear subframe.
The four rubber jacking points on the car are a Mercedes plus point compared to some makes, very quick and easy to use.
Every year people are crushed under cars, make sure you use good stands and never work underneath with it supported by just a single hydraulic jack.
