W202 C180 Aitomatic gearbox info

Hi I have the above car and sometimes when I put it into drive it doesn't change gear properly but if I jiggle gear stick then it does so I guessing it isn't in right position.So I was thinking is there electric contacts under gear stick that might be a bit dirty that's at fault .

There ARE a lot of electrics under that panel, dont ever spill drink on it !

There is a olastic bush under the gear lever which operates the actual box. Mine was split and worn. Replacing wasnt difficult, remove armrest, remove gear lever box. See bush.
