W202 c250d Saloon. Fuel Filter

I have recently aquired a 1996 c250d. Saloon
I thought I should give it a service so bought set of filters. I am slightly confused by the fuel filter which a plastic gauze tower about 2.5 inches high and 1/2 an inch in diameter. Where does this fit? Is there another more traditional fuel filter somewhere else in the system.

Hi,

The little filter is a fuel pre filter, sits right next to the big fuel filter at the front of the engine, you will see it, it has one of the fuel hoses comming off of it. . .

Make sure this is a proper merc part tho, i had one, which didnt fit quite right, and the diesel was constantly running back, there are 2 o rings for this, a little one, and a bigger one that goes round where the filter sits.

Ive found them both. Its so easy when you know where to look.
Now to change the glow plugs!!!
