W202 with 604.910 engine.
I've tracked down an air leak to the INSIDE of the fuel tank. (Clear pipe now fitted to tank outlet, shows regular trail of 2-3mm bubbles coming out with the fuel!)
I would very much like to hear from anyone who either knows what the layout is inside these tanks, or better still, knows what is likely to be going on inside.
I'm in the mood for some radical surgery here, but I don't see a tank swap as the first solution.
I've seen a diagram somewhere on the web, showing the venturi/swirl pot/pickup arrangement, but I'm damned if I can locate it again. It certainly doesn't seem to be on the WIS either.
There was also some mention of the rivets which hold the fuel filler neck restrictor accidentally dropping into the tank and causing havoc with the fuel pick-up.
Any info on Tank internals gratefully received, apologies for the long post.
