Hi, I need to remove the ignition barrel from my dad's C Class - key does not always work - lots of wiggling. He has purchased a replacement barrel, and the guy in the dealer talked about using a rod in the one or two holes. (I have found many useful hint for other models but not the 202) Unfortunately, this barrel has no holes. Anyone changed a barrel in one of these cars, or does anyone have any pictures of what to look for ?

Thanks

John

The key needs to be at position 1 then there is a small hole underneath the barrel enclosure to poke through.

There are 2 types of switch, before or after 08-96 it depends on if you have DAS 2a

There are no holes on either switch, you prise off the escutcheon and with a suitable tool you turn it ½ turn anti clock

Many thanks Television, we will try that soonest, and I will let you know.

ps (DAS 2a Data Aquisition System ????)

Cheers

ps (DAS 2a Data Aquisition System ????)

If that's a question, the answer is it's the immobiliser.

DAS2 is radio transponder and DAS3 is Infra Red key.

If you have DAS then the transponder has to be taken off first, if you cannot work this out I can look on the data sheet

There is no transponder on it. But thanks for the info.
