W203 C200 Komp tail light messages on dash but bulbs are new

I have error messages as both bulbs dont work on my tail lights, the upper emergency lights are on instead but both bulbs are new and when i unlock the car with auto lights on the lower tail lights come on for about a second before the upper ones take over!!


Any ideas people?

Are bulbs correct by wattage?

Is it an early model? 2001/2002
On the bulb holder , by the lug connectors, just squeeze it in slightly to make a better contact.

bulbs are from mercedes dealership. its a december 2000 model

Get the fault codes read. It may be a rear sam unit fault as it controls the back lights.

As the bulbs are new and dealer supplied I guess they are correct wattage, therefore I would carefully inspect the bulbholders for corrosion / bad contacts. Liberal application of contact cleaner, bending of contacts and in worst cases a blob of solder will probably restore good conductivity and correct operation.

The bulb holders and where the go plugs and the plugs themselves look as new. Not sure what the next plan is! Are there any fuses? does anyone know what fuse number they are?

It will be a bad connection, the later models were modified. I had exactly the same problem with mine.
take the bulb out and pull the rear connector forward so there is more tension on the back of the bulb

hi i had the same problem when i changed my bulb but my light were left on auto turn them off and that reset it for me
