W203 C220CDI engine noise & MAF Sensor part no

Hi all,

I have had a few problems with my W203 C220CDI since I purchased it. Have since found out that it was involved in a bump so no wonder.
I've had most of the problems fixed (injectors at £1200) and have now gotten over my paranoia everytime the car doesn't do exactly what I expect, but I have noticed that I have a similar problem as the thread below.
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=39529

Basically, if I boot the car while driving, when it get's to 2500 revs it makes a strange straining/pinking noise until 3000 revs (when it changes gear). It seems to happen whatever gear I'm in.
I've had a diagnostics test done in the past abnd there are no codes showing.
Anyone shed any light on this?

As car has been in a bump and given loads of other threads I've read on here, I think it may be a good idea to get the MAF sensor changed.

Does anyone know what the part number is for an MAF and recommend any places to buy, so I can hunt around.
Chassis number is WDC2030062R062864 and model is W203 C220CDI.

W203 c220cdi MAF

The cdi engines come with a Pierburg MAF.

The MB part number is A611 094 0048, the Pierburg part number is 722684070.

These MAFs are sold without housing, you install into your existing housing. The last time I looked, it was about £70 from Mercedes, about £50 from Eurocarparts.

dont know if this will work but someone once told me that he clean his maf with some brake cleaning spray and it cured his problem, think he said the problem was to do with his gearbox

Isnt this more of a temp measure to gloss over the real problem with the sensor? Isnt it a short term fix?

It depends on what the problem is with the sensor, My service manual state that these are very reliable apart from soot getting on the hot wire BUT garages never bother to clean these regardless of how much you pay for servicing. aparently a lot of ppl change them for no reason what soever apart from the fact that they have a spare £100 and dont really know what to spend it on.
