w203 power steering fluid?

Hi folks,

Apologies if this has been covered before, but the Search function is not working for me today...

Anyway, two part question:

1. How do I check the powe-rsteering fluid level on a 2002 W203 (where is the filler/dipstick located - I can't find it)?
2. What's involved with changing the PS fluid - easy to do???

You need to remove the plastic engine covers.

This shows the location of the reservoir for a 2.2 litre diesel engine, but yours is going to be similar, although it may be on the opposite side.

Hi Folks,

Finally found the reservoir and discovered that the cap had been left undone. I therefore suspect that the fluid has absorbed moisture and will need to be replaced asap.

The forum search function is not working for me today so can some kind person tell me what fluid can be used (does it have to be MB or can other UK makes of PS fluid be used) and how much is needed for a W203?
