Hi all,

I bought a CD Changer from ebay ( model number A203 820 90 89 ) which came complete with a fibre cable and mounting brackets.

My 07 w203 has Comand (fitted by myself, upgraded from Audio 20 iirc) , the phone prep, and Ipod integration.

I found this thread http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=34916

and this guide http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND+APS+Retrofit-article-4.html

but I am still a little confused as to what leads/adaptors I need.

I assumed that there would be some sort of power cable to run from the back of the comand to the CD changer, and that the fibre cable would also plug into the changer, and that would be it ! however the 2 different links I found above talk on the one hand about wiring from the drivers footwell, and in the other about fibre adaptors ?

Does anyone know what cable I need and its part number please ?

All the part numbers are on Richards website. Basically you need to splice into the power connector that goes to the comand already, earth the -ve lead and splice into the fibre. the procedure for the W169 Richard did and your W203 should be pretty much the same.

The luxury A/C should plug straight in but you will need to get the car coded for it to work properly.

Also you will not have the full luxury climate unless you install the sensors in the footwell vents. there are some reports of this mod having been done and the car not ventilating as it would if it were a factory retro fit!

Oh dear, I thought I had read up on this one through the forums and it was just a straight swap :( (although there were apparently 2 versions and it was pot luck as to which would work) I'll see how I get on with that one then !

I fitted a Thermotronic a/c unit (part# A203 830 43 85) when I changed the trim panels on my centre console, 10 min job :)

Unit needed to be reset by holding down the screen demist and recirc buttons for 5sec. The unit goes through a cycle adjusting the vents. Had it checked by STAR no errors but still had the vents "normalised" again. Unit works fine but there are flap motors that are not fitted in the original Thermatic setup. There appears to be only one footwell flap controller and one of the fresh air flaps is missing. These may be retro-fitable but as I say it works ok as is.

I am looking into fitting the sun sensor as I have the heated washer nozzles so should have the required loom. This should give a little extra control from the upgraded unit.

That's reassuring, thanks ;)
