Mercedes Benz C Class C320 CDI W204
Hi All,

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I sound an amateur! I have the Mercedes C class 2007 (57 reg) w204 C320 Cdi and have an issue which I really hope someone can provide advice on.

Yesterday evening once I turned the car on, the sat nav screen which pops up upon ignition did so as normal but then as the warning sign and the Mercedes star sign show, the system screen automatically goes blank (the sat nav does not close back into the dash) and a weird whirring sound comes on, the screen then loads up again only to cut keep cutting off and restarting again.. And again! I cannot use any other features such as the radio or aux or Bluetooth telephony as the whole system shuts down and restarts.

At times it stays on for 15-20 seconds before restarting again. During the period it's on I can just about use the dial to move around, the small arrow on the maps seems frozen on one location.

I have taken out the fuse (fuse 26 for the comand system) waited, and then re-inserted but the same issue occurs.

Does anyone know what the cause of this problem is or how it can be fixed?

I spoke to a 'Mercedes technician' found on gumtree who said the vehicle may need the software updated requiring a code and update from STAR or something which is Mercedes' official system? Is this correct or are there any other fixes?

I hope someone can help!

Regards
Tahmid

Is the cover for the display flush with the dash when closed, had an issue with a customers car with same symptoms as yourself, the cover/lid for display had taken a knock causing the hinge to disconnect this then caused comand to cycle through the start up procedure

Hi, I can confirm the cover/lid is flush with the rest of the dashboard. It was all working perfectly fine but when I came back to the car about an hour later that's when the problem arose!
