W204 C63 question..

Both times I've bought my 63's I went to my local Indy & got them to check the whole car over, get it on the diagnostics & give me a list of things that in their opinion required remedying. Those that were covered under warranty were done, anything that wasn't I paid for.
If you're not entirely happy with the car you've nothing to lose by doing the same.

Thats a good idea. Something isnt quite right with the car. Took it out for a good drive today, for example pulling up at a junction with a slight incline, the car is as jerky as hell pulling away up the hill, surging back and too but once you get going its fine.

I messaged the previous owner today as I had his number from previous invoices, I mentioned the jerky gear change and he said it was the same for him and ask the garage to get it looked at under warranty.

Im going to get on the phone in the morning to the dealership and see what they can do....after payting £20k for a car, Im not just going to accept to be fobbed off, whatever the issue is needs fixing..

It also had an ATF change in early 2017 and 43k miles. Its now at 61K miles so wouldnt think this would need doing so soon..

There's something not right, there shouldn't be any jerkiness at all.
Like you said call the dealership & see what they say, good luck & keep us updated on things.

The tyres fine and been tracked? Also, there is another thread on here about jerking. It’s worth reading that?

Tyres are all good. I’ll have a look at that link. Much appreciated

Iv had the car just over a week so I for sure won’t be paying a penny to have the fault rectified. It is under warranty but if the garage don’t support me in having it fixed they can take the car back.

If the gearbox did need an overhaul or replacing, what sort of money we looking at?

Sorry this is panning out this way mate. How come the previous owner didn't sort this out? Or do you think he moved the car on because of it? Total bummer whichever way. Wish you the best of luck.

Thanks mate. After messaging the owner it’s pretty clear that he knew the car had some problems that need sorting so rather than spend the money fixing the fault he’s basically traded it in to let someone’s else have the problem.....

The car is immaculate though and has full Mercedes history so I’m really scratching my head a little bit to be honest...

mate could you make a video of the issue? It could help us help you perhaps?

Hope your gearbox issue is nothing more than perhaps a service / adaptations reset.

Bit of a shitty start to your ownership but hopefully you get it sorted (at no cost to you) & you can go on & enjoy the car in the long term :)

No I’m quite annoyed to be honest mate but I really like the car. Iv never owned a car that draws so much attention from people....it’s just my look that I get my dream car and it needs a huge job doing to it literally within days of spending £20k on it

99% of the time the new owner would be whinging that the trader had sold you a dud so it’s refreshing to see your perspective.

And it’s a shame that this is happeningright from the start of your ownership, I hope it gets sorted soon and it gets sorted to your satisfaction.

An update, had contact with the garage yesterday and they told me to book it into Mercedes for a diagnosis. The stutter and jerkiness seems to be getting worse so I’m limiting its use as much as I can. It really is taking the edge of what should be an enjoyable time with this car

Might require a software update it helped on one of my ex w204 c63.

It's great that it sounds like you have some kind of warranty from a garage. I had a similar issue with an Evo X, more pronounced stutter going up hills. It was a gearbox issue but as mitsi didn't repair gearboxes they pulled the whole thing out and replaced under warranty. I was told it could have been the gearbox ecu.

To be honest mate buying it me of these without a warranty I think is financial suicide. If I was buying one privately it would have to be VERY cheap.....

Back on topic the earliest Mercedes can look at it is the 7th of September sadly. Another thing I have noticed is that the jerkiness and hesitancy is more noticeable when the car has been running from a while and is upto temperature. From cold and slowly getting to temperature it’s a smoother drive....any other ideas?

It's possible it's had a transmission oil change and someone has put the wrong ATF in it.

The gearboxes made from June 2010 need the thinner blue ATF. Prior to that it was the red ATF.
