W204 C63 question..

This sounds like an unusual experience to be honest, I hope you get it resolved.

I don't think you read his post...!

In general, the coupes seem to have the highest turnover and attract the majority of the younger people looking for a car to rag/impress mates. The saloons and particularly the estates are usually only bought by slightly older (30+) people who use them as practical cars (it is still a C Class after all) as well as to have a bit of fun.

I'm 31, had performance-ish cars since 24. Never push them until the engine is warm, always stay on top of servicing, fix absolutely anything that needs it, use the best quality parts and oil, etc etc.

I have no need for a saloon and estate and think the coupes look much nicer...so that's the car for me (when the time comes) :)

I must be the exception to the rule! Started with a PPP wagon, then moved to a coupe.

And if you’d stayed together and had kids, you’d have been looking at the estate 😂

Tbh now that I think about it more....one of the reasons I can now afford this car is because I'm not moving house anytime soon.. 😂

So in all likelihood, if we were still together, there probably wouldn't be a C63 in any form on the way!

Positives and negatives eh haha

MCT transmission uses a wet clutch instead of a conventional torque converter to give a more sportier feel and better drive . It sounds very much like the wet clutch adaption may need re calibrating. If the oil level is correct
I would suggest getting the transmission checked and updated if software is available and then the wet clutch re adapted

In all fairness, it’s horses for courses. I’ve never liked the look of the C63 Coupe.....that rear quarter just doesn’t look right somehow and the 19” wheels look tiny under the large rear. I always thought the saloon looked much more aggressive and had better lines And more in proportion.

my car is booked into Mercedes Warrington on the 7th of September. I’m currently away in Crete for a week so the car isn’t being used. My hunch is it’s definitely a clutch/gearbox issue. When the car has warmed up and has been running for a while, it really isn’t a nice drive. It’s jerky and feels like a bit of a misfire when pulling away. The box doesn’t seem to know what gear it should be in. When the car is cold and getting to temperature you don’t notice it. Something certainly isn’t right. If the garage/warranty company don’t pay out and fix the car then I’ll be looking to give it back. I love the car But it’s simply not right.

I use MB Warrington too. They've been brilliant with me. On both the C63s I've had only one thing ever went wrong (touch wood) and that was the notoriously iffy aircon unit in the W204. They sorted it FOC for me even though the car was out of the 2 year warranty period.

Another question on this. When I drive the car in manual mode using the flappy paddles, the car drives much better than in auto, don’t really feel any stuttering...
Any ideas?

Should drive similar in S / S+ / M but you might expect some more juddering in C because there's more clutch slip starting in 2nd gear. Could point to worn clutches.

If it is worn clutches what sort of money you looking at to fix them?

I don't know but it would require taking the gearbox out/apart. Could be other issues so don't take my word for it.

If the wet clutch needs replacing you would need to remove the gearbox and the wet clutch sits in place of where the normal torque converter would be so just pulls off the input shaft. I would be 100% sure it's the wet clutches have you had the oil and filter changed and box flushed or have you checked the wet clutch solenoid for the gauze being blocked ?

Hope the issue gets sorted. For the most part, facelift C63’s seem to be fairly reliable.

As for coupe vs saloon. Saloon all day long - the front seats are so much nicer than the ones fitted in the coupe, also the rear end proportions imo look better too.

Few pics of my old one below. Miss it..
