W204 Estate - replace number plate bulbs

Does anyone know how to replace the rear number plate bulbs on the C-Class estate (W204)? There are only two screws under the external chrome strip which do not seem to do anything. Searching the web find plenty of answers for the saloon which mentions removing fasteners and screws from the inside, trouble is the estate has absolutely no screws or fasteners on the internal panel.

The manual just says take it to a dealer....

Alternatively on the RapidShare you choose option 'slow download', then registration not req'd. Takes seconds to download either way.

On their way, it takes a while as you need to loosen the the rear wiper as well as the trim.

Hi Mate,

Sure - I am away at the moment so it may have to wait 2 weeks.

Basically if I can remember.

Find the screw on the interior boot handles (may have a plastic cover over them), remover, remove the interior panelling, then undo some interior screws, then undo the 2 exterior screw, then unscrew the rear wiper motor and Voila!

Sounds worse than it is, oh and you have to remove the upper interior trim too, around the rear window.

Quite a PITA compared to the saloon.

The interior panelling pops off with some force - but don't break the clips.
