Yes, standard exhaust. Was the car in the video standard exhaust? I never heard mine from outside while hurtling down a moorland road
The engine is such a work of art. Like the greatest engines it changes character as it goes through the range. I love the wakeup call at 3000-4000 rpm
I also think, and I understand this is controversial, that it was at its best in the C63 estate. In an S class, or other bigger bodies, it lost some of its attraction, you needed a slightly less maniacal, slightly low down torquier application, and the sound was more muted.
In the SLS its most tuned up version was competing against other exotics, at the top of the premier league, and it was harder to stand out when you're up against the n/a flat plane crank V8 in a 458, for example. But in the C63 estate..holy cow.
