W205 Ordered Today

That Hyacinth red is a funny colour.

I saw it on a new E Class estate and it was a glorious metallic red, however, then saw it on an E63 saloon and it was what can be best described as metallic rusty brown.

I was originally going to have solid black with red leather. But the dealer had an E Class estate on the forecourt in Hyacinth Red and I was quite taken with it. So decided to have the car coloured in and switch to HR with black artico. Same price but I feel a more interesting car, that should look a little better when it's dirty. My current car is metallic black and it's a pain to keep looking good.

Saw a really nice S205 this morning in a brightish blue, on German plates with beige interior, looked amazing and now definitely a car on my radar, waiting for the C250 petrol though.

'Brilliant Blue Metallic' its imaginatively called. Its a great colour, but I'm not a blue-car person, and I thought it looked a bit too BMW.

The other thing I like about the German car was there was no chrome on it at all, everything trim wise was black.
Which I think is the 'night package'? But can't see it on the UK configurator.

Yeah, I really like the package.

I hate all the chrome, and think I mentioned it in that thread.

It looked nice, very elegant with the beige leather very dark wood.

Oh, and the multispoke wheels like the new CLS press shots, they looked great too.

Night package is a funny thing. In Jaguar-land where I'm coming from, it's a 'black pack'.

Certainly works on some colours, particularly the blacks and greys, but the brighter colours I'm personally not so sure on. Be nice to have the option in the UK though.

Oh, and the multispoke wheels like the new CLS press shots, they looked great too.

Do you mean the 19in AMG wheels? I test drove cars with both the 18in AMG wheels (the three-spoke design), and the multispoke 19in version. The 19in ones were noticeably noisier, although ride quality wasn't any different. I went for the 18in because I prefer the design, and wanted to try and get the car as close as possible to the quietness of my Jag.

I ilke the reds with the black trim, I know this is an Audi, but can't find a Merc pic as it is such a new package...

I think I'm with you on a solid red, but not on metallics. One of the Jag guys has a dark metallic red XF with a black pack. It's a very similar colour to Hyacinth Red but i'm not sure on it with blacked out trim.

I think bright colours like red and blue need a bit of chrome to make them 'pop'.

Now that looks stunning!!

So, looking at this.....

Can I ask, why the hell are you leaving Jaguar??? :D

New company car. I have a privately owned saloon XF currently, to get the same in an XF Sportbrake would cost about 50k, plus the BIK tax would be extremely nasty. And the 3l Jaguars eat diesel like it's going out of fashion.

I was hoping that the new XE would come as an estate (because I need an estate now), but it won't for a year or so. And even if you compare the saloon XE to the C-class, the C-class gets you more kit for less money and actually has a nicer interior.

Don't get me wrong, I'd dearly love to stay in a Jag, but just right now the economics don't make sense. Maybe when Jag release they new set of engines in the new XF due in 2016 they will.

Now that looks stunning!!

I think Jaguar can conquer the German car market, what with the new XE, XJ and the soon to come XF. Their new cars now look and mean the business. It would be good to see Jag at the top of the list for the compact and executive markets since they really deserve it now IMHO. Its not the Jag of the 2000 era any.more (I don't intend to offend anyone with those Jag models).

I too am a Jag XF owner - traded in and taking delivery of a new MB E-Class this coming Friday (Hyacinth Red).
I love the Jaguar 2.7 V6 diesel, but it has cost me over £1500 in electrical repairs this year alone.
I do feel I might be downgrading a little to a 2.1 litre 4 pot diesel, but I couldn't risk any more expense waiting for the new Jag XE to appear, so I have taken the plunge and taken out a personal lease with maintenance cover over three years with Mercedes Benz. (after experiencing some issues with two Jag dealerships in particular, and my confirmed suspicions of the quality of Jaguar's wiring loom suppliers).
Can't wait to get the new car.... after which I will generate my profile and introduce myself properly.:D

I love my XF to bits, but in the last year...

New front discs and pads @ £700 (before Jaguar helpfully started doing the fixed priced replacements at £350)
New wiring loom in the boot @ £200
New lock in the rear door (known fault) @ £180

plus tyres all round, and a service. It's been an expensive year all right. I'll still come back to them in the future though :-) The sense of occasion when driving a Jag just cannot be found anywhere else.

My W205 250 Bluetec Sport should be here within the next 4 weeks. No recent contact from the lease company or the Merc fleet sales dept. so no reason to think otherwise.

My last month of hauling a heavy A6 off the lights and putting up with that 8 speed CVT gearbox.

A week early would be ace as I have a trip to see the family in Manchester for the last weekend of November but roll on the start of December.

New wiring loom in the boot @ £200
QUOTE]

£200 ? - I posted this on the XF Forum in May 2013
" if it is a wiring loom fault, you might be surprised to know a new one costs just over £20.
I had a fault on my 2008 PL which manifested itself as a number plate lamp not working despite changing the lamp.
There were some broken wires where the loom passes through the rubber boot between the lid and the body.
If you are the DIY type, it only involves removing the boot lid liner and the right hand liner in the luggage compartment, unplugging the old harness, feeding the new harness into position and plugging in.
The new harness comes with the flexible rubber boot fitted, and in my case, also includes the camera cable."
Might be a good idea to shop around a bit if your dealer is charging these sort of prices!

FWD, diesel lag and CVT transmission, hmmm? Combine that with Audis remarkable way it manages to squat at the back when pulling away (lifting weight off the front axle) makes for a very scary exit on busy roundabouts!!
