Hi all,

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before.

Recently bought a '97 W208 CLK200, fittted with a Sony cassette player. I would like to add cd/changer to the car.

Anyone knows if the car is wired for a changer? Would I need a Mercedes head unit if I want to utilise this?

The other option is to get an Audio 10 Cd player, which I am also considering.

many thanks for any input

I think you may as well go back to the Mercedes equipment if the cabling hasnt been ruined. Obviously Sony might work with MB stacker but only if it outputs C-connector / Becker commands.

Most often it is faster to start with original radio.

You can pick up very cheap audio 10 units on this forum and ebay less than £100 for the CD & around £50 for the older tape unit. these then link to an MB fibre optic CD changer and youcan also add Mb phone if you wish...... of course you could always retro fit comand

how can i check if my car has the cables ready for the cd changer? any faqs or diy pages around?

cheers

Its probably easiest to ask the dealer by VIN. Otherwise hunt around for a orange fibre optic cable.
