Hello, perhaps someone knows what causes this.

I changed the thermostat last week, no problems and all is well with the engine running temperature now however the coolant level warning indication is on but it wasn't before. The level is ok when checked and there are no losses etc. I overfilled the coolant level slightly but it has vented out, I assume the sensor must be in the expansion / filler tank, am i correct? Is it easy to get at?

Are you sure you have right level in resevor on a side? Check connection ona sensor (its on bottow of it). If you need replaceing its 210 545 00 24.

The level should be at the join between the clear black top and the clear bottom. If its above this maybe you need to draw some off, rather than relying on the excess having vented off.

:o ----- as someone pointed out the sensor must be in a seperate cavity and despite filling to the join between the top and the bottom of the reservoir initially the second chamber hadn't filled. I filled the reservoir to the overflow point, squeezed the top hose a few times then there was a bit of a bubble and the level went down a bit and hey presto the monitor now says the coolant level is Ok again.

Thanks for the input.

Greenmartin - I had the same issue after clearing out the EGR cooler and losing coolant - hey presto resolved as you said - thanks
