As some of you may know, my W210 Cdi went through something of an arch and bumper refurb in the form of new wings and a full front bumper respray.

Unfortunately this meant that the already tired car looked even more so compared to the new paint.

So this morning I took a quick drive into Newmarket to pick up some Autoglym goodies and met up with a mate with a polisher...

Then we spent 5 and half hours turning the car back into something beautiful.

It's not a full on professional job, but not a bad effort for a sunny afternoons work.

Equipment used:

Autoglym Bodywork shampoo conditioner
Autoglym glass polish
Electric car polisher
Maguires autoclay
3M car polish
Autoglym wax

Sorry its a tad pic heavy, all comments welcome.

Thanks

The car is looking spot on now - good effort...!!!

When can you do mine...??? LOL.

P.S. Jimmy, did you buy a new black grill or spray the original one..???

I bought a standard grill and painted the chrome surround body colour and the inside grills satin black. I would have proffered to have painted another Avantgarde grill but they are quite pricey.

The finish is amazing in the flesh, pictures don't do it justice really, so smooth! it's like a sheet of glass!

I forgot to mention we also used a foam bath for the wheels and then brushed them and we also used Supaguard tyre shine.

the whole job took about 5 1/2 hours.

I'm tempted to buy a complete Avantgarde grill for my car from ebay is about £50 and is black - think I might just have to get it after seeing that last pic of your car..!!!

definitely get an avantgarde grill if you can, i wish i did! but im glad i kept my AG grill standard for resale later on!

Im glad you like it, i was a bit give and take with it at first, but now the car looks stunning and i think the new plate position and black grill set it off! just need to get a few more things done and i'll be a happy camper;

Brabus 18" wheels
New stiffer, lower suspension
Remap to over 230bhp and 400lb ft.

looks excellent, do you mind giving details about the respray?

cheers

Not at all, the respray was done by a good friend of mine and his work colleague. Its a bit of a thing on the side for them as they both work in the aviation polishing and painting industry but are both passionate about cars.

I had to purchase the paint and parts myself (2 litres of obsidian black paint at about £125 delivered and 2 genuine *but used* straight front wings at £100 for the pair)

All prepping and priming was done by my friend and it was done over a week.

The only downer was, because they were doing it in their spare time, after work, i was without a front bumper and wings for the week, but luckily i had the ML to use.

He included all the taking apart and refitting of the front end with me in the price and the finish is superb. the price was £350 for the priming, painting and polishing, which is very competitive and was to a grade A standard.

If you would like more info please feel free to PM me.
thanks

Agree, looks fantastic, very much worth the work.
And I'm next in line :)

Well done.

I must admit i've never "detailed" a car to this extent before, so it was quite an experience and to be even more honest, I do quote often give in to the fine jobs done by my local hand car wash guys, but this has opened my eyes to how clean your car really isnt after a standard wash, and it takes time and attention to detail to make a car properly "clean" so i've decided that the majority of the cleaning from now on will be done by me, and properly (this may also be to justify the amount i spent on Autoglym products yesterday!)

How much did u spend on the products..???

The autoglym pack was on offer at £13.99 in halfords, then £27.99 for the maguiars clay kit, £24.99 for the 3M polish but fortunately i used my mates polisher and pads, as those things cost a bomb!

Small tip. You taped up the door lower trims. There is one screw on each door. Undo this and the trim slides off really easily.

Nice job BTW.

Was it an orbital polisher? Nice job :thumb:

Im not sure, i'll ask him though as i am seriously thinking about buying one as my brother wants to go halves so he can polish his Porsche too!

Thanks mate, we thought about taking them off, but we were in a bit of a taping frenzy at that point so just went with it haha

You say you used Autoglym wax - but that kit doesn't have any wax in it..what wax did you finish off with?

Certainly the AutoGlym polishes I've used are the Super Resin Polish and the Gold Glass liquid wax (which gives a stunning shine).

Sorry, we used 3M polish and then the autoglym aquawax that my brother had seperate from the pack. The pack just contains shampoo, glass polish and the resin polish, a sponge and 4 polishing cloths.
