I thought I would bring this to folks attention as it may affect quite a few MB models which are fitted with those integral head lamp washers.

I bought this mint W210 last week and although extremely well cared for both of the covers that are flush with the surrounding bodywork looked slightly out of line.

I didnt pay much attention until I saw it leaking water from one the the units emptying the water bottle. I removed the unit but couldnt see anything wrong with the pipework, after activating the switch on and off the leak stopped.

On closer inspection the rubber prong that sticks out the back of the washer wasnt locating in the plastic loop fitted to the back of the headlamp cover, this caused the retracting washer to not close properly and I guess leave it valve open.

I wouldnt mention this as possibly a one off, that said when I checked the other side it was exactly the same and could be pushed back in by loosing the screws.

If anyone wants some pics let me know ;)

Someones had the lamps out and not refittted the washers properly. It's easily done.

Yup, I guess - I thought it worth mentioning in case anyone else has leaking washers, simple fix.

Tks - will check mine.
My washer bottle dosn't half guzzle

i did find one system leak - where the black tubes/hoses connect into the 'T' splitter for the window washer - it seems to pop off now and then especially when you open the bonnet up full 90deg.

Yup, one of mine came off after I re-fitted the headlamp washer pods, the other one was half off also -

Looks like they have electric pumps in the housing so not just the pump in the washer bottle doing the business, bit complicated (and expensive I bet):(

Just going through my list of jobs to do on my recent purchase;

No 47, remove condensation from near side headlights, I did read somewhere about the problem being resolved using a hair dryer but cant find the thread?

I think I had a pipe freeze and pop off as water bottle empty overnight :rolleyes:

Too cold to investigate at the mo but will have a look lunchtime tomorrow -
