W210 Wing Mirror upgrade - Help

BMMERC, swap the plug on the mirror side NOT the car side, its the normal way of doing it and the parts are easier to get.

so you replace the mirror side plug with 2, rectangle and round plug.

as grav mentions, if the mirrors you have have the memory function, u may get sparadic results, post a pic of the mirror connector and we should be able to tell you if its a memory mirror or not.

hi alps

thanks for your input :) I have checked the pins on the mirrors, they are not memory (dont have the pins in the connectors for that function). im getting there slowly, thanks to your help and other forum members :) fanks!

OMG! Im so DIM! I have even suprised myself. I have sat here for months now looking at these damn mirrors. Can somebody PLEASE help!

I have a w210 prefacelift (99), took the mirrors off, they have round and sqaure connectors. (they are heated, folding type). Okay so I have not got a set of w210 facelift mirrors, also folding and blinking, but they have a square pleug only.

What do I do? I know I need to change the connector on the mirror side, so I need a round connector and a square one right? Could somebody please post the part numbers I need, please please.. I just can't figure it :(

The folding blinking facelift W210 mirrors that I got from Steve, had a square plug and a round plug on them, which plugged straight into my W202. I believe he had modified the plugs though - not sure what a standard W210 faclift blinking folding mirror has ... would still assume that there were two plugs though (although could be wrong on this !)

How many wires going into the Square plug ?

Hi Sym :)

The w210 mirror has the round plug and square plug. So would I need the same parts transplanted onto the new facelift w210 mirror with a 1-1 pin setup to make it work? thanks :)

ok 2 ways you can do this, order all the parts and cut and solder all the pins in the correct order, OR

open up both mirrors, and change the wiring over from your current mirror to the facelift, running additional wires for the indicator.

if you have not got folding or dimming mirrors currently, then option 1 would be best, the parts are listed on various posts on this forum, and on www.club202.com

less of actually doing it for you im afraid the forum posts have all the info you need! best do some searches and print them all out !

Hmm....

Okay, right I ordered a set of square plugs for the MIRROR side on the facelift mirrors..... do I ALSO need to order the ROUND plugs for the MIRROR side on the facelift to connect correctly to the PREFACELIFT w210...?? anybody!!! thanks

hello!! anybody home! :)

as in the previous post, would I also need the round connector? I have ordered two rectangle plugs, and the pins so far - but im assuming I will have to add the round plug to the FACELIFT mirrors aswell? Does anybody have the part number for that? thanks!

You could just solder the relevant wires together - but if there's a round plug on your car end, its going to be easier to connect / disconnect if you have the same round plug / pins on your mirror end too.

Part numbers are definitely on this forum somewhere ! Will try a search for you.

Thanks for that Sym :) I appreciate your help :) Im just lost with it at the moment... feel like giving up the idea :(

Plug to fit this mirror, and part numbers for plug and pins, as follows :-

A0305459928 : PLUG EUR : 1.18
A0085455026 : CONTACT SPRING : EUR 1.22

Is this what you are after ?

Good point - I'm not 100% sure actually - it might be a Pre-facelift folding mirror - I just ripped it from another thread in a hurry!

Somebody with an EPC will be able to confirm.

Hey guys,

I am starting this mod as well.

I am having a lot of trouble removing the W210 mirror case? It seems impossible to do without having it mounted to a car so that you can see inside and unclip whatever you have to unclip or move inside to remove the cover? How did everyone else remove this cover when the mirror was not mounted to the car?

Also my mirrors are heated / dimming / blinking, I will not be using the dimming function as it is on the passenger side (left) and I have a right hand drive W202. My rear vision mirror is also not dimming so I would need one of those to set it all up.

I am deciding to change the w210 mirror connectors to a W202 compatible connector.

Here is a picture of my W210 left passenger side mirror wires:

Here is a picture of the W202 left passenger side car wires:

As you can see from the above pictures my W202 car plugs are 5 pin and rectangular in shape (No circular connectors are there).

So I was wondering what are the part numbers for the W210 mirror side of this plug so that I can convert the mirror to the 5 pin W202 plug.

And does anyone know what wire on the W210 mirror corresponds to what wire on the W202 plug side of the car so I will know which wire to put in which plug hole when I make the plug?

Alps posted this part number up "pins(x10) MA019 545 56 28"

Which I assume are the little pins that go inside the plug which you attach the appropriate wires too?

So apart from these pins which other pieces do I need to make the W210 mirror plug change to a W202 plug?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Sorry I forgot to add, the part number for my W202 car side rectangular plug as seen in the pictures above is 0025458226 (exact same part number on both left and right side plugs). Is there a way to find out what the part number is which clips to this one from the mirror side?

Thanks!

Okay guys,

I took the part numbers from this thread and took a punt.

I ordered:

MA0195455628 : (Pins X 10)

A0305459928 : (Plug X 2)
A0085455026 : (Contact Spring X 2)

Is this all I will need to make two plugs? I don't know what the contact spring does, does anyone know what this is? I ordered two anyway lol.

By the way, the plugs I ordered are picture above in sym's post. My car side plugs are different to this plug (they don't have the circular connector) but I assume my rectangular connector from the car wiring will fit onto this plug without the circular piece attached as they look to be the same rectangular components.

Finally removed the mirror cover! :bannana: now all that is left is to make the plugs, solder the wires into the new connector and tap the indicator wires.

So does anyone know if I will need more parts than these to make the connectors?

MA0195455628 : (Pins X 10)

A0305459928 : (Plug X 2)

A0085455026 : (Contact Spring X 2) (What does this contact spring do?)

These are on order already but would like to order any other parts I will need to make these connectors ASAP.

Thanks!

"Contact spring" is the MB name (translation of the german) for the female version of a pin - (i.e the socket side, rather than the plug side, contacts)

Thanks mate, so I guess I didn't need these contact springs as I already have the female connector on the car side.

Sym,

Sorry to say but this plug number doesn't work.

I bought these plugs thinking that it was the plug in the picture you attached and I got a totally different plug, it is white and 6 pin, 3 pin on top and 3 pin underneath.

I want the plug that is in your attached picture, that exact plug I need desperately

If I can get the plug that you attached as your picture I can use the rectangular section with the 5 male pins to plug into my 5 female rectangular plug on the W202 car side as seen below in the photo.

Please does anyone have this part number for the plug in Sym's attachment above?!!! Or another plug like it with only the 5 male pin rectangular section and not the circular section? need it ASAP!

Thanks guys.
