W211 E55s for sale

is the one in MK still a possibility?
I don't think so. The seller would only let me get an inspection done by a garage of his choosing which has put me off.

I'm a bit lost on which links are for what - which link was it for this car?
Understandable. I do post a lot of links, pictures and nonsense. :D

It was this one. The photos must have been taken a while ago or by the previous owner because it looked nothing like this today.

Perhaps they were the pictures taken of it when that owner bought it and it hasn't been looked after at all.

It is getting on a bit now though on a 52 plate and I wouldn't have said that one was particularly 'value for money' at that price.

The other ones posted up looked a better bet.

Yeah I bet. Lol.

I got my dealer to take mine 10 miles to be inspected by a garage of my choosing - which as I mentioned before paid dividends.

Been following this thread and it brings back some memories of when I was looking for mine. Took me about 9 months to find a decent one for me so dont give up.

As other have said take you time and wait for the right one.

Exactly what John's other half said when she saw the ad.

He'd agreed to knock over £1k off that price which is why it seemed like a better deal.

When I first mentioned the inspection he said, "Yes no problem". Then he texted me the next day and said he wanted to see a printed report of the inspection. Fine with me - that way I couldn't ask him for money off for non-existent faults. Then a few hours later, a third text, telling me which garages I was allowed to use for the inspection. I don't think so. My money, my choice of garage.

There's no way I'm giving up. The silver lining on yesterday's cloud is that I now know the W211 E55 is definitely the car for me. And I got to meet John, his missus and their excellent little dog. :D

It has made me very keen to buy from a garage rather than an individual so I might have to wait even longer.

It certainly seems that you either need to buy private from someone who's an enthusiast like us or buy one from a trader, the car seller yesterday seems a bit shady if you ask me.

As I'm sure that you're aware, I've got my car up for sale at the minute and if someone wanted to take the car for a weekend to make sure everything is kosher I wouldn't bat an eyelid. But then I've got nothing to hide...

Sorry to hear it wasn't ideal mate, and would have loved to have been able to come along if, but glad you haven't lost faith in E55's. You will find the right one for you.

It's Sunday morning, the sun is out and I can hear the car crying out for a spot of exercise ..

If it's of any solace, I waited a good while for mine. There are pups out there. The only other E55 I have ever bothered to sit in was JohnEBoys. At 170+mph (into a 20mph headwind) there was a little bit of wind noise, but that was me, not his car :)

Be patient and you WILL be rewarded :thumb:

Cheers

Tim

It does, but then at 65k on a 52 plate, it is over-priced to start with when you compare it to one of my earlier-recommended steeds:

2004 Mercedes-Benz E Class E55K 4DR TIP AUTO SAT NAV LEATHERS XENONS 5.4

Alright, it has done 80k (onl 15k more) but it is a lot newer and looks like it is in a lot better condition.

Quite - and you'd be wise to stick with that attitude IMO. At the end of the day, it is a buyer's market (slightly within reason).

Large powerful thirsty V8 automatics are not exactly 'in demand'.

I think you should open up the dialogue with these guys again.

It's over budget but you're in a buyers market at the mo.

Nothing ventured etc.

Plus more cake :D.

I can have a glance for you if you'd like?

I've just looked at their stock - very impressive - they like their cars.

This one has now dropped (and while I think of it, the silver one posted quite a while back but which is still for sale - with ALLBUW on the number plate - has been up for ages). This one I think was £17,995 when I first posted it up.

It has more options than mine, but options don't add thousands to the price tag. It is the same colour as mine (quite rare) but an 04 plate and it 7000 miles more than mine. I paid £17,500 from a garage back in March 2011 - which was 'at the top end' even then except that it was and is mint and running beautifully and on 49,000 miles.

I would expect to buying this one for quite a bit less than that price (couple of grand rather than couple of hundred).

SPX, do you have the book prices adjusted for this one?

An '04 plate E55 with 64k on books at just over £9k if in excellent condition.

That is what you'd be offered if part exchanging, give or take a few quid.

Yesterday's experience really unsettled me. Not the state of the car so much as the sort of seller I'm restricting myself to. So I've had a good chat with the missus and I've got a bit more money to play with, which will hopefully open up a few more possibilities. :)

And remember, man maths is always the way forward...

Ah right, the Evoque one. That's on AT as well.
The one being sold by Evoque Garages in Crewe is now within reach. Has anyone been to have a look at it or had any dealings with this garage?

As is this one at Stratstone in Manchester:
2004 Mercedes-Benz E Class E55K 4dr Tip Auto 5.4

A 55 plate would be nice as, from what I've read on here and elsewhere, these later models (identifiable by the mesh on the dash rather than the louvres) don't suffer from the same electrical gremlins as the earlier ones.

That 54 plate is an 'early' 54. It needs to be registered October 2004 onwards to be the mesh.

Compare the dash of the 54 plate one above with that of the 55 one above - you can see the difference.

The black one has blue window tinting.

Looks like the 55 plate has got the dynamic seats, too. Fabulous things. Can't tell on the other one. Pity about no keyless.

Sorry, yes, I noticed the different dash and edited my post. :)

Although I'd ideally like a black one, silver would be my second choice. That first one is very nice indeed but getting to see it is going to be nigh-on impossible for a while.

Back on a proper internet connection. :D

You really like this one don't you? :) It is a very nice example with all the bells and whistles but I'm not overly keen on that colour and I can't see anything to justify the price tag. It's not on a really late plate and the mileage isn't that low.

I haven't seen it to know if it's any good, and it is expensive, but the mileage is 40K less than one of the ones above that you are querying.

The price tag is a starting point and they can only say no if you were to offer on it.

If it isn't the right colour for you then it's a non starter really, but the dealership seems properly "specialist" looking at their stock, which seems like a good start after the last one we saw.

Sometimes you get what you pay for :thumb:.
