W211 E55s for sale

I haven't seen it to know if it's any good, and it is expensive, but the mileage is 40K less than one of the ones above that you are querying.
The mileage isn't that much of a concern for me as long as it's been looked after. As I said to you, my last few cars (B6 S4, B5 RS4 and E39 M5) have all had 100k or more on them and they were all good as gold because they'd been maintained properly. :)

If it isn't the right colour for you then it's a non starter really, but the dealership seems properly "specialist" looking at their stock, which seems like a good start after the last one we saw.
Black or silver for me but they do look like they get good examples in. :)

P.S. I hope I'm not coming across as ungrateful with my replies John. That's not the case at all. :)

I'm sure that John isn't offended, they're made of stern stuff in that there black country. :thumb:

I was thinking about your situation earlier and meant to ask, what is the *cough* budget now?

The reason I ask is that my search for an AMG will probably end in me buying a W203 C55, because the car I *really* want is the W211 E63 and I'm trying to hold off buying one until later in the year, maybe a years time. An E63 is now well under £20k; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 6.2 7G-Tronic AMG | eBay

2006 Mercedes-Benz E Class E63K 4DR TIP AUTO#SATNAV#0NLY 59K#1 OWNER#XENONS# 6.2
which I know is a big jump in your budget, but if you can't find the 'right' E55, maybe wait a while and buy the '63?

I'm not overly keen on that colour and I can't see anything to justify the price tag. It's not on a really late plate and the mileage isn't that low.

When I first saw mine on AT, I assumed it was black (look at my Avatar). It wasn't until I turned up that I realised it was metallic grey.

As I stood there looking at it, it grabbed me by the knackers and I actually prefer it to silver and it shows the dirt a little less than black.

No one I've asked has not liked it, but I agree, if the colour is not for you then as John says, it's a non-starter.

If there is any doubt - you should see it in real life as the picture don't do this colour justice - albeit the pictures of that one are good...

I'm glad it's not just me that starts with a budget, and in the end it creeps up and up until you end up buying something you didn't even intend to to start with.

:D

I love/prefer the look of the E63, but I prefer the E55 engine with the sound of the V8 + whiner.

The early E63's were supercharged as well I think...

But yes, I'm recommending the E63 more through the looks, out of the five W211's I've owned this is my first 'facelift' and it does feel that bit more up-to-date for obvious reasons.

It's also with that in mind that I wonder if I could go back to a pre-facelift W211 (albeit an E55K), but this thread isn't about my musings, it's about us getting GreetMe into a rather delicious E55.:D

An E63K would be formidable but it's not blown... just normal aspiration.

I can see why Alps has facelifted his but personally, I can't be bothered.

£12k maximum, and that really is a maximum. :D

I've been keeping an eye on the prices of E63s and they are tumbling. I can see myself swapping for one of those after the E55 but this time I want a 'charged V8. :)

Muse away. I love reading all this stuff. :)

With the revised budget, this one near Crewe is the current favourite but I can't take time off to go and view it.

Fear not C, as I said on Saturday, as an enthusiast this is all time well spent for me :thumb:.

When you've realised you can't live without the well specced grey one in Birmingham I'll still be your pit stop for tea and cake ;).

Plus it's much more interesting than the dross that some idiots on here keep posting, like this.......

That's if you haven't bought it first. :D

Just had it confirmed - I'm putting a deposit on the other one in the morning.

Other one? Which one, C? Either way, fair do's!

Be prepared to make your mates laugh (I've never NOT made someone laugh in mine, they are bonkers cars), see people to do a double take (you will use the mirror to watch people turn around for another look) and most of all, get prepared for next VMax... :D:bannana:

Sorry, got a bit carried away. :D

I mean that I've now got holding deposits on both of the cars in the links that I posted above. I'm going to be travelling a long way to see them and I don't want some cheeky chappy getting in there before me.

One thing's confusing me... Stratstone Jaguar (where the first car is) have said that they won't be able to tax it until Monday morning so I'd either have to go back or they'll drive it down here for me (for a fee obviously).

Evoque Cars (where the second car is) have said that their local Post Office is open until 4 p.m. on Saturday so I'll be able to get it taxed and drive it away on Saturday. I've looked on the Royal Mail site and I can't find any Post Office open past 12:30 on a Saturday...

I've got better vibes coming from the 55 plate, which I don't know if it's a subliminal thing; 55 plate E55.

Remember also that you're more likely to be able to negotiate with an independent trader, I find main dealer salesmen to be more excited when you're talking finance etc.

And I've never been called a cheeky chappy before...;) :D

So have I. He's sending me the service dates and mileages this morning. :)

I'm getting this already and I haven't even seen the car yet. I spoke to the sales manager and the business manager yesterday when I was leaving a deposit and they both told me, several times, how many of their cars they sold at sticker price and how competitively-priced their stock is. It was a very clear message that they're not intending to knock any money off at all. To rub salt in the wound the sales manager then told me that there'd be an additional "admin charge" of £72. :bannana:
