W211 E55s for sale

To my (admittedly untrained) eye they both look like they've been very well looked after and they're similarly specced. The price difference seems about right to reflect the difference in mileage between them.

I'm covering all the bases here. I've just spoken to the seller of the first one. It's in Milton Keynes so I'm looking for an indie specialist in the area to carry out an inspection on it.

I've posted in the Autoclass thread but if anyone can recommend any other garages who offer such a service that would be great. :)

Thanks Drew.

I've now got a shortlist of two.

1. That one above.

Pros:

  • Panoramic roof
  • It's not far from me
  • With a bit of haggling it would fall well within budget
Cons:

  • No keyless go
  • High mileage compared to the other one

2. The other one (no longer listed anywhere but I'm in touch with the seller and it's still available).

Pros:

  • Keyless go
  • Almost half the mileage of the first one
Cons:

  • It's much further away
  • Unless the seller budges (and they've already done a fair bit of budging) it's outside my budget
Decisions, decisions.
Mate, the cons you listed for #2 have nothing to do with the car. Does it float your boat otherwise? Sounds like it. If it's just the travelling, a lot of buyers of these will travel to make sure they get the right one.

I'm no expert, but if your journey would take you via Worcester, I'll be happy take you the rest of the way in mine so you get a further feel for them. (Not that mines a benchmark, by any means!)

Birmingham.

Birmingham - dodgy people round there ;).

Don't let distance be a factor - if it's for you, distance is immaterial.

I always search UK wide for cars.

Also, think of the drive back :thumb:.

I forgot to add a third con for the second one - it doesn't have a sunroof. I didn't think I was that fussed but after owning an M5 with one I found I was opening it at every opportunity to hear the exhausts and I did the same in the E55 that I test drove. :)

That's a really kind offer. Thank you. :) Worcester certainly wouldn't be very far out of my way if I did go to look at the one in Birmingham so, if I decide to go and have a look, I'll take you up on your offer. :)

The drive back!

Mine was a couple of hours, and I'd developed smile wrinkles by the end of it.

After seven months of ownership, they are now like carvings..

I 'third' the distance thing. I always search UK wide. OK mine came from 20 miles away from me but I have bought cars over 200 miles away before. It will pay dividends later on.

Rear windows work better than a sunroof in my experience. I usually open all windows except for the front passenger, and than gives the best balance of sound vs. not too much wind blowing around.

After sleeping on it and thinking about it this morning I've decided that I want the one in Birmingham and not the one in Milton Keynes.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the one in MK but I'm trying to find reasons not to buy it so I think that tells me all I need to know. :)

I haven't trawled the thread to see your budget but there's a low mileage E63 Estate at MB Direct, Birmingham .

Cat/pigeons etc. :thumb:

I saw that at the weekend. I only gave it a glance because:

(a) the MBDirect sales staff follow you around from the moment you get out of your car, and then leap on you if you stop walking. Tedious when you've stopped to look at 3 cars already.

(b) I was busy signing the paperwork on the SLS

OK, so (b) was a fib, but (a) is more than true enough to make up for it.

Oooh, just seen that, doesn't look too bad, decent colour combination (I don't like black interiors) looks like a decent spec too and 7 seats :D

Hmmmmmm....

GreetMe, why has the Birmingham one been de-listed?

Am good for Sunday, by the way, but will need to be back around 3. Will you be using the M4 or M40? Hope you don't get your hopes up about my abilities by the way - I only know what I know :o

Cheers

Internet connection's playing up. :(

The Birmingham one's been delisted because the PH advert expired and they're waiting to see if we can reach an agreement before they relist it. :)

I would probably go up the M40 to get to Birmingham.

That's got to be moon mileage for that spec and age to be at that price.

Looks in good shape though...

^ I spotted that one when it went up yesterday (or maybe the day before).

Every forum seems to have a horror story or ten about Keighley cars though.

I think that would put me off.

When I investigated my dealer, I found no positive stuff, but more importantly, no negative either.

I went along and spent enough time there to see for myself and formulated an opinion on what I saw.

It's difficult to know whether a bad reputation is warranted or if it's just internet forum Chinese whispers.

In this instance though I've trawled lots of owners' forums and the bad experiences of Keighley far outweigh the good.

I would be interested in joining you guys if that were ok?

Is this turning into a W211 meet, before our very eyes? :)
