W211 SBC issue ?

It's no wonder the end customer gets confused with the contradictory statements flying about.

I agree 100%

MB Bromley certainly advised me that SBC units had a 'lifetime warranty' on them - which I questioned as my car had no MB warranty on it but they confirmed still.

It's no wonder the end customer gets confused with the contradictory statements flying about.

I wonder if the change in policy coincides with the last of the SBC based cars going through the AU channels.

Up to that point the dealers could say to a customer that they had never known a replacement to be refused. Now they don't have to.

It could be although I still see the odd one going through. Perhaps they deem 6 years old for the newest is an acceptable threshold.

I've resigned myself to replacing mine should I still be in possession of it when it happens.

However, like my earlier post, the money I've saved using an independent far outweighs the cost of it, so I am not really disgruntled.

I wasn't relishing having to go to MB to get it sorted anyway as I know what they can be liked when you are looking to give them custom.

guys, will the sbc control unit get damaged if you change brake pads without deactivating the sbc? thanks
