Anyone know the latest map version for this?

My 2010 W212 fitted with NTG4 has just come back from its last service under warranty.
Went in with "Europe 6.0" and came back with the same which I thought a bit strange.

I thought it was 7... Mine goes in on Friday for service and update so will check afterwards. Alfie or Richard will know definitively.

As its the end of 2013, it could be out of it's 3 years free map update.

If not, you often have to ask for the maps to be updated as it takes 2 hours of a workshop bay and a charger. If it is after 3 years, you have to buy the updates.

NTG4 on W212 is V8.0. NTG4.5 is V9.0 (for cars with 3 years free update, retrofitted cars can only get V8.0 at the moment)

Ian, I would specifically ask them to do the update and tell them the version number, and ask them to install the latest firmware too.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks Richard

I thought it was version 8.0 after searching.

As usual I did specifically ask for the map update as the car will be 3 year old later this month.

I'll now go back and ask why they didn't update the maps and if they could check that they did everything else.

Local Dealer, Arnold Clark Grangemouth does not have the map disc available.

They can order them in for us for £100 if we want

They are being clueless.

a) The dealers get special versions of the map disk for their workshop with their star diagnosis releases. They can re-order the disks for workshop purposes, and it is NOT the retail version
b) They are only allowed to install the disk on cars covered by the 3 years free updated
c) In the case of NTG3.5/NTG4.5 they have to generate a map PIN on VeDOK which is free if the car is within the 3 year free program, and gets charged if not

So, the dealer needs to go and look in his Star Diagnosis disks and find the disk, or re-order the workshop copy.

What is your VIN - I can check if the car is eligible for the 3 years free update service.

With apologies for the minor thread hijack...

My W212 was registered 1/5/2011 so is under three years old, but the map updates seem to be released around September / October. I had the cartography updated separate to the annual service late last year which meant that when the car was serviced again in April this year there was no newer cartography available. I could ask the dealer to update the cartography now, but come April next year when it's next serviced I'll be in the same boat as I was this year, with no newer cartography to install.

So, if I get the dealer to do the update now, can I ask them to generate a new PIN on VeDOK when the car's serviced in April 2014 (i.e. while the car's still under 3 years old) and then use that PIN with the next release of cartography that will be released in September / October 2014?

NTG4.5 updates seem to be twice a year at the moment.

PIN is generated for the MAP version. I would certainly ask him just before warranty expires, to generate the MAP pin for the latest available version and give it to you. Parts department does that normally.

I'd expect the ability to generate PIN for a certain version only happens a few weeks before the disks go to the dealers. Which *is* before the retail version is released and the various user documentation and systems show the map existing.

But if your car is out of the 3 year free, they will charge you for the 2 hours of workshop bay and power supply used up during the update no-doubt

As usual I did specifically ask for the map update as the car will be 3 year old later this month.

It's quite dissapointing that after specifically asking Arnold Clark for a MAP update I was told that there was "no new version available".

Not offered the option to pay £x pounds (if car wasn't eligible for 3 year free) and have an update, just told there is no update available.

Only after researching do I find that there is a version 8.0 available to replace the 6.0 version fitted to the cars.
Of course they then explain that there is likely to be no significant updates to the MAPS to then justify why they never applied the updates or even offered these at an additional cost.

That shouldn't really be the case, might be a pain for the technician to do the update but they should at least be 100% honest about things and feed the correct information back to the customer.

One then wonders if there is anything else that the techinician couldn't be bothered doing or checking as it takes too long or is too much trouble.

Then we consider that the dealer is now Arnold Clark  and I wonder just how long I'll be around on the MBClub forums.

... so it took FOUR hours for my maps to be updated from v7 to v8 today and it's got to go back for a firmware update separately as they were concerned that a corrupt file error came up and they don't want to 'break' it unless I've got a loaner to take the pressure off them.

Going back in at no charge in a couple of weeks even though warranty will have expired by then. Fair play to Purslow in Guildford.

I got a call back from Mercedes UK with the part number for the latest V8.0 disk on Thursday after I had called to confirm what was the latest for my car.

They asked why I hadn't simply got the dealer to do this and I explained that the dealer told me there was no update available.
The person on the phone did not seem impressed by this and said that this was not acceptable as it can clearly be seen there is an update available and the customer should not be able to find this via google when the dealer can't.
They said they would look into the matter further and pass comment back to the dealer.

Friday I get a call by the dealer to say they have ordered in the V8.0 discs and will install on both vehicles for free.
