Can anyone link me to a how to guide to change the engine air filters on as W219 CLS? I had a quick look but the torx screw positions dont have much clearance to access to them. So im guessing there is another way?

Had a quick look online but can only find guides for the amg or 3.5 petrol engines

Remove the air intake to the turbo. (check the seal is not leaking on to the turbo)

Unbolt the air filters and remove the electrical connector on the o/s one

Pull them upwards firmly and remove the plastic intake from them.

Bingo.

Did it today. Bit of a pita job to be honest. Surely when designing it changing the air filters as a service part would have been thought of instead of needing to undo a load of bolts to gain access to the filters

Once you've done them a few times it's a doddle.

I put a new turbo inlet seal in mine once, this was recommended because they can deteriorate, but I was a little bit rough with the intake and I broke it so be careful.

Now I change them every 10k because they clog up so quickly and I just clean up the turbo inlet very carefully! The new seal was obviously bigger and stressed the plastic.
