Hi,

I'm a private buyer looking for a 1993 Mercedes Benz 190LE (Limited Edition) in particular, though I'd also be interested in any other 1993 Mercedes Benz 190E (airbag model).

The car must be automatic and have less than 80000 miles, FSH is not essential but a plus. Also, it must only be the 1.8 or 2.0 litre models, otherwise I can't afford to insure it!

The car must also be factory original, so no spoilers, 19" spinning chrome alloys or lowered suspension.

Add a reply if you are interested, or have any tips on finding one.

They're around. Depends how much the original owner wanted to shell out. My '86 2.3-16 has one & I've had other 190s, all later models, which have had SRS.

I just want an end of line car, thats all. For me these are the pick of the entire 190 range with the best equipment levels and modifications made by MB.

I've seen that 190LE on Ebay (its been relisted), but its a bit of a rough car. Look past the cheap silicone wheel shine and its a bit of a "rough diamond".

I narrowly missed out on a 190LE a couple of weeks back with 54000 miles on the clock, that was in mint condition. Thats the kind of car I'm after.

Thanks for the suggestion and links.

Not sure what you expect from a car that's 15 years old + they are almost all going to be a bit "frayed round the edges". The immaculate ones tend to be silly money but if you are willing to pay fair enough. Just be prepared for it to shed lots of its "premium price" value quickly if you use it as daily transport and the mileage mounts up.

I'm with above, not sure what you want for a 15 year old used car that looks quite smart. Certain things you can always get done in your ownership. If the price is right then its a good deal?

Being a low millage one doesn't always mean its mint?

Good luck searching

Yep, I'm willing to "pay" for a mint or v good car. I do want to keep the car for a couple of years, so I'm willing to invest a bit more in a decent car rather than some worn out thing.

What's your budget? I reckon you're looking at around twice to three times the price of an 'average' example for a car that meets your criteria.

Don't forget that like most MBs these cars are rife with clockers, they wear their mileage so well. Many of the 'low mileage' examples seem to have large gaps in the service history etc.

I saw one on Ebay about 5 months ago, '93 car, according to the description and pictures it was immaculate other than one very small dent somewhere. Full history and documents.
Had to be collected within 1 day of auction ending so went for low money.....£720..

Keep looking they do turn up.

Thanks Dieselman, they do come up periodically but snapped up super-quick.

I've missed on out two immaculate cars a couple of weeks back, one with 54k and one with 72k both 190LEs with FSH by a matter of hours.

As for that 38000 mile 190E, I have been in contact with the dealer about it. However, the price is too high (its a 15 year old car) but I have talked to them and expressed my interest, that if they don't sell it and are stuck with it they can phone me back and I'll make an offer a bit lower than what they are asking for. They wanted list price for it, somehow I doubt they'll get it.

How much were you looking to pay?

If that 1993 car has a genuine 38K, and the condition is commensurate with this, I would say that the asking price (£1995) is pretty reasonable, especially considering the spec (2.0, auto, alloys, airbag etc) :) - marque specialists would certainly ask quite a bit more than that ;)

The majority of people who have low mileage, mint cars, know the value of them and price them accordingly.

Grav was wanting to sell his 190E at one time. Due to the change in VED, he changed his mind, he selling his E55 and CLK instead.

I dont think thats true is it? He was selling them way before the VED announcements..
