Hi guys/gals

Anyone know where I can lay my hands on a good quality outdoor car cover for my 1991 W124 500E. Must be fully waterproof/breathable etc

Making these is what my wife did for a living up to her retiring recently.

She still has friends working there though so I'll be having a word. When I get a price you will get a PM

Over the years I have tried almost all makes of car covers and I am sorry to say I just do not recommend them. Faults - strong winds can cause cover to lift, breaking the tie-down straps; breathable and 100% waterproof do not go together; in damp weather, car can become damp under the cover trapping moisture; and in frosty or icy conditions, the cover becomes stuck to the car. In one case, a classic car did not start to rust until it was put under a cover.Yes, a car cover is good against damage by sunlight ie they can help prevent fading but that is all.
After much expense and research, I found the portable garages to be best. These have a metal frame which is anchored either onto grass or into concrete. They allow air to circulate, so moisture is not trapped. Entry is easy and the space they take up is no greater than the size of the car.

Car cover....

Not a chance not for any length, they don't do either very well and the car keeps the moisture in it which is not great.

aarrgghhh get it in a garage (heated :) or a car port or as above a portable garage type arrangement.

Thats my view after using various types for a caravan / car

Luckily now I have a garage and a car port :)

:)

PS I'm sure Ian W will store it for you at great rates :)
