Ok, as you may remember, from some time ago, looking for a run around for my father.

Consideration now is the cls

i find the new model too aggressive, and less harmonious than the outgoing model, and feel the current model is also significantly more elegant. father is near 60 yrs old, so the aggressive rapper look is not his style at all.

so possibly looking for a second hand or ex demo or something that offers value of the out going model..

maybe an amg, or the 320cdi... not the 500, purely as its either gonna be performance or economy, not wishy washy in the middle.

anyone seen anything unusual or soft to the eye..

not liking the black interiors nor generic paint colours.. looking for something different, special, maybe designo, maybe not.

thanks

Outgoing CLS Grand Edition in Designo Matt silver...if you can find one!

How about a Honda Jazz?

Few consider a CLS as a runaround?

Still will save putting miles on the Maybachs or the £50k 124...

run around, as in, luxury, compact, can cater for 2, sometimes 4 people and can hold 2 sets of golf clubs.

jazz is nice, we have them as our corporate vehicles. And there is the Yaris he loves using, but he is a cross between Mercedes and Saab for day to day cars

No Maybachs sorry lol.. and the 50k 124.. not yet.. maybe next year ;)

Current CLS is far better looking and more elegant IMHO. Great for those of us who will be buying second hand.

the later 500 had the 388hp 5.5 V8 instead of the 305hp of the earlier ones.

Later 500 would be plenty fast .. not many about though.

Would you describe a CLS as compact?

Your dad wants the latest agressive style CLS...he is not quite dead just yet!

He also wants:
1. Brilliant silver (full gloss, not matte crap).
2. Pale grey (or possibly sand) interior leather.
3. Burl walnut (or possibly black maple).

You only will ever have one dad and its nice to see that you want to look after him!

Sounds like your Dad will be having my ideal next car! LOL!!

Current model, 320CDI, silver or dark red (whatever they call it) beige interior... hmm :)

By the way, back monday night - talk tuesday? :)

Any car can be considered a runaround, I suppose. Mine is used for taking the kids (actually kid now) to school, shopping, holidays and just about anything else. Even brought some wardrobes back from Argos today (although did stick out a couple of foot). As my dad used to say "if all I'd got was a Rolls Royce and I'd got to get a pig to market, It'd go in the Rolls Royce"
I hate the thought of one of my cars being a "prima Donna" and being only used for special occasions (used as a wedding car for my nephew last weekend ). Mercedes best (most useful/reliable) car in the world, without doubt.

Next generation for me definitely. I love the aggressive look - it has a really strong stance and great lines.

I have never been a huge fan of the current CLS. Reminds me of a banana :)

this is true... but its so elegant.. more like a wolf in sheeps clothing..

the new one just looks like the next gen transformer.. i will keep wondering what they actually wanted it to resemble.. as by the time it hits the market, its semi radical styling will start to look dated... maybe..

i like the bespoke styling of the interior of the new one.

however, in comparison to the current model, i prefer the top half of the dash from the current model and the bottom half from the new one..

the cls is no where near compact c class yes my step father is looking at one a maroon coloured slc with full tan interior, imo a lot better than a silver one with black interior

Nothing wrong with 60, i'm nearly there myself.......
