Had four lessons and then passed my test in a very early Mini 1275GT. Lovely car!

Love the Met. A friend had one and would drive it like a Ferrari which with respect it wasn’t.I did my driving test in my mother's Austin/Nash Metropolitan - like this but RHD.

My first car bought a few weeks before I took my test in 1959 was a 1934 MG L type Magna, like this but green:-

If IIRC I paid £25 and sold it 3 years later for £50 - it's probably now worth £60k ! It had a 1,087cc 6 cylinder in-line engine producing a massive 41bhp thanks to a 12-port, cross-flow cylinder head !

Hillman Hunter 1725GT.
plenty of leg room in the front and leg-over room in the back
In it's defense, whilst I was undeniably ashamed of Maxi-tub when my peers all had Jags, Spitfires, Capri's etc... for a hormonally driven 17yo it's fold down back seats & ample space was "rewarding".
