what engines fit clk 230k 51 auto

Hi,
I am needing some helping understanding the "111" engine range, as fitted to my 2001 clk 230k.
It has a knacked M 111 982 motor, I m having trouble sourcing that same donor code.
I have found other 111 variants, mostly from older clk's, also I have been offered an R 111 116 motor.
I would appreciate it if anyone could help explain the range as MB wont get involved.
Does it need to come from a clk, or is slk the same ?
Will it need to have come from an auto?

What's wrong with the knackered one? might be better to rebuild at least you know what you are getting then.?

It sounded like the chain went, it's well seized.
I have to look at the cost route here as car value could soon be passed in labour fees etc.
It is a clean car,sayng that.
