What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

On Saturday I bought some wheel cleaner, sprayed it on and rinsed it off. Very easy way to freshen the look of the car in minutes without having to do a full wash.

on my (new to me) W203 C200K this morning I repaired the Parking Brake release as the Spring wasn't attached (don't know how that had come off), replaced some interior lights with LED, re-arranged the stuff in the boot, began to troubleshoot the headlight washer system when I realised I had to leave for work in 20 mins

Collected it from the bodyshop having just had it repaired after an S class tried to mate with it! only to run into a deer about ten minutes later, fortunately the only damage I can see is a scratch on my newly refurbed front offside, presumably from a hoof. Sadly the deer is no more.

I washed mine and put some tyre shine on lol oh and drove it of course.

Had 2 new front tyres on this morning. Kwik Fit did them at my house. Really impressed with the service, technician was a great guy as opposed to the usual Neanderthals, & he popped my new AMG centre caps in all round. Would highly recommend them.

Polished the other weekend. Took this pic yesterday

Went to First Aid wheels to get a couple of the 18's re-finished. Tucked away down a mews in West Hampstead it's and amazing Alladin's den of all things wheel-related.

Was happy to see they can do machine cutting alongside all the other finishes. I used to go to Diamond Styling as they were the only place in London I know that did that on the rims of my C43s' Monoblocs but they moved out of town years ago

Had a good chat with the boss. Actually could have spent hours in there.

Yesterday I removed the old aircon condenser which may or may not have been leaking and fitted the new one with some considerable difficulty as it was a pattern part which didn't fit well initially but eventually responded well to designer violence.
Suspecting that the real problem was in the evaporator, I bought one in and prepared myself for the trivial matter of changing it. I thought I'd risk gassing the system in case there was no reason to remove the dashboard, strip the heater and "reassembly is the reverse of the dismantling procedure."(Except that things are very much slower in reverse.)
I called the local people who were happy to fit me in straight after work so I dropped the car off and went to the burger joint over the road for lunch where I could see the car being worked upon. I was told that they do a pressure check first with nitrogen and if it holds for fifteen minutes then they regas it. Forty minutes later, it was still in the bay. When they backed it out, I went over and paid up. All is cool and if it stays that way, I shall be very happy. So far then the car has had half of a leather interior, the doors biffed straight, the aircon fixed and a set of better wheels. Next week, the rest of the interior and build the seat control units. Getting there.

Replaced the front anti roll bar bushes. Miracle cure! much reduced clonking, steering and ride very much improved and the brakes seem not to grab so much.

Drove it to a local meet which is not a marque thing, just a group of friendly people putting the word to rights on a Sunday morning.

Then got it home, took the anti roll bar off, rubbed it down and painted it gloss black. Just because really. It was a bit flaky but nothing really bad. Looks better now though... I'm tempted to take the bottom wishbones off to give them the same treatment, though may do them in-situ to save altering all the camber settings and having to trust someone to re jig it.

This was on the 190E by the way, the E63's taking a back seat at the moment. :(

Well my MOT is due on 6th August so I have my car booked in for tomorrow for a thorough going over so if anything is required they can sort it prior to the actual MOT. I want them to go through the whole car and tell me what's needed for the MOT, what isn't but is a priority and what needs doing when time and funds allow. I have what I consider to be a fairly healthy budget but there again Mercedes have a good way of shrinking your expectations as to how far that will go!
In the meantime having endured a set of black mats in my car since the day I bought it I saw Carl at R129 had two new sets of blue mats listed so I grabbed a set while the going was good. Now I will no longer need to wince at the conflicting black mats when I open the door.

I picked up my refurbed rims from First Aid Wheels on Saturday. Very happy. Now just have to find the time to get them fitted
