What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Hi; I'm new to MBclub and today I'm going to change back from K&N to standard air filters on my 500sl and maybe disconnect my battery for 1/2 hour or so. You see I have bought it @2 years ago and I've changed front suspension, refurbished power searing pump, changed sparkplugs, leads, distributors, capacitors, done terra clean, changed transmission oil and filer, upgraded air filters to K&N, fixed air con, diff, new AMG wheels, new tires and repainted few panels and now it is time to look into fuel system which I think has a gremlin - sometimes when I try to "give it some beans" it seems to have a problem getting into revs, it sounds as the fuel pump straggles with fuel delivery. Don't get me wrong when I drive, it goes pretty well but from time to time when I want to get started from the stand still with a bit of umph it staggers.
Any suggestions?

Ive tried but it did not go according to my plan :)

Cut the wooden trim down on the passenger's door in order to fit seat switches.
Ordered new catalytic converter pipe which will almost certainly be rendered ineffective by ham fisted fitting.

Picked her up from the garage, she looks nice and clean after some new paint and then came the rain!

Yesterday; picked it up from garage. After much expense the broken rear vent has been replaced and the seat cooling fan is working properly (needed a new assembly and full strip down to fit it.....).

Went to pick up my wife, swung into the drive and ker-unch. Kerbed the rear left alloy. They really are wider......Oh well I hadn't refurbed that one and can't see when it's parked up :-)

This morning I picked up a strip of loose wheel weights from the drive and went back to Wembley tyres to have them re-fitted. Didn't mention the wheel wax I'd put on.......

Now expecting the other three to fly off as soon as I hit the autoroute in France in a few weeks' time.

Don't laugh - that has happened to me.

Spent a couple of hours replacing these on the passenger side.

Steering wheel is definitely off, I will need to go see WIM again for an alignment check.

I've kerbed a couple of wheels over the years. It's a horrible sound and a depressing feeling. I feel your pain. :(

Electrified passenger seat. Took all weekend and I have my side yet to do. Fitted leather trim to door card so I have a cloth/ leather hybrid and fitted an unbroken speaker grille.
Sourced the new wings. Waiting for the new cat downpipe, springs and dampers. When all the bits arrive, I think I'll take a week off and build myself a car.

Bloody Hell. Electrified seat. Alarm not good enough?

The approach to my drive is quite acute and there's a raised kerb on the left just waiting to nick the rim.

Looking at it yesterday I can see that I'd been brushing it with the tyre wall when I had 17's (plenty of black deposits on the corner of it). Only now if I do the exact same manouevre with 9 inch wide 18's on the back it's the rim which makes contact instead of the tyre.

Tested the seat coolers properly yesterday afternoon and BUGGER the fan in the driver's seat base is working but the one in the back rest isn't. Which is why I took the feckin thing last week in the first place.

Last time it would work if I wasn't sitting in the seat but would catch on something if I put some weight on it.

Now it's just dead.

It's a new unit so it much be the wiring.

The garage are going to have to do another strip down.

Writing them a letter to explain this very clearly this morning.

*sigh*

Went out for a long country drive in my C55 Estate, in the beautiful Kent & Sussex sunshine, yesterday afternoon.....................and breathe Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

The longer I leave it between drives, the more I enjoy this car and less bits seem to fall of it.

However, never to disappoint in the 'bits falling off stakes'. Yesterday as we approached home on the M20 a group of KODO Drummers started up under the car boom, bbbbb, boom, dummm, dddd dum......Hammer, hammer hammer, thump thump.

I suspect that my brand new undertray has decided to detach itself from the floor of the car (again). Either this or I have run over somebody who is trying to warn me that they are under the car.

Put the new rear springs into the garage and bought a 25 way printer cable to provide switch wiring to the driver's seat relay pack. modified a w210 mirror motor in order to try a w202 retrofit.
