What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Replaced the oil in the diff, not listed in the maintenance specs so I assume its a sealed for life deal (life of what I ask, dog, mouse, housefly). After 80k miles fluid was pretty dirty, removed 900Ml, put in 1.2 litres, found a handy little plastic pump on Amazon to refill, worked a treat not bad for £10.

Got to the bottom of my A/C losing refrigerant over time and annoyingly blowing warm air when set at 16c, the lowest temp it shows.
Called a local guy who lives a couple of minutes from me and is mobile. Confirmed very low refrigerant and traced the leak to both low and high pressure valves leaking. Dropped a couple of new valves in and regassed the system and now blowing ice cold, just in time for this weeks warm spell.

I can thoroughly recommend this guy who operates in Dorset/Hants and Wiltshire and does the job on your driveway or workplace. Cost me £75 including the two valves. Rang him yesterday evening and he called this morning.

Great service and value 👌🏻

Mrs D and I went out for a top-down drive yesterday evening to enjoy the beautiful warm spring evening, and we only went and did it again. Yesterday was just for the hell if it and today we had somewhere to go, but sharing a drive on a lively day is a wonderful thing.

Replaced the auto transmission plug connector today as part of giving the old girl some love process, new one was a bugger to get in, old one practically fell out. Had it lined up correctly, could see all the pins, just would not fully enter the housing, was wary of pushing to hard and bending the pins, gathered my courage and gave it a good shove and in it went (ooh err missus).

It had been leaking, the female connector was soaked so a good spray of contact cleaner sorted it, hopefully have avoided the dreaded TCM disaster. Oh and I lost best part of a litre of transmission fluid in the process.

The aircon has not worked since I bought the car in September. I never believe it when they say "it just needs a regas mate"....even though on my last car that was actually the case! So a while back I put about 50 psi in in to see.....got a loud hiss from front of car. A badly positioned jubilee clip had worn a tiny hole in the condenser. A combination if crushing the tiny tube, solder and a thick coat of JB radiator repair soon fixed that and for the last month or more I've been running around with compressed air in it to make sure the pressure held....it did. Off to Kwikfit today and they recharged it. To be honest I was expecting problems because I don't know how long it's not worked for and the best way to kill your AC is not to use it. So I expected leaks under high pressure or compressor issues...but no. Passed the pressure and vacuum test with no issues and when I picked up the car it was freezing inside....lovely. When i got here home I popped the bonnet to make sure they put the caps back on.....and there was ice on a metal pipes! Just hope it lasts.

Been a car themed day. I had a maintenance detail on a couple of them and they looked wonderful in the sunshine.

Then this evening I picked up something new (to me) which is a dream come true, and I have made that one day today.

I finally have the world record fastest production model - you watch, now I have one they’ll launch an even faster one!

😁😁😁

I’ll drop you a bucket on the way. I have get for 48 hours so I’m aiming to do 6,000 miles by Sunday tea time😁
Reminds me of the time I had to rent a van when one of mine was in for some work.
Their brand new, shiny delivery mileage T5 had 2500 miles on it when I took it back a couple of days later.
