What is it with Merc's n Bradford

I do think a lot of people don't understand what racism is.

In this case, it's saying there is a problem because of a particular culture.
Agreed.

All Asians are involved in gang culture is a racist comment, but to say that there are Asian gangs is not; it's a documented fact.

Then we have "casual & passive" racism. This to me seems to be where you are accused of racism without knowing or intending to be racist. Somebody else decides on your behalf that you were being racist. To ensure that this carries weight they refer to you as a "casual racist". Now to ensure that the glue is evenly spread we then extend the term to homosexuals, invalids or any other cause that is deemed by the accuser to need their support.

On witnessing a rather serious violent assault (knife was used). I was asked by a Police Officer "who had the knife" I replied (in all honesty) and being perfectly polite "it was the black guy over there". I then received more attention from the Police than the assault perpetrator.

I should not have used the word black. But coloured is okay. So if the coloured guy has said about me "it was the white guy over there" is that racist?

It all gets lost somewhere, in people who seem to have created an entire industry out of being offended on behalf of others.

It reminds me of something that happened recently.

There was a, I think Japanese, chef on a TV show and I think it was Matthew Kelly assumed he was cooking Japanese food.

Labelled as casual racism - beats me why that would be...

If it was Delia, and he asked her what British dish she was cooking - would anyone be offended?

It seems like the pendulum of political-correctness has swung far beyond what is reasonable.

The BD postcode dealers serve as a great place to get a selection of cheap runabouts, one year cars. Had plenty of cars from that area just make sure your expectations are right, never pay a deposit, drive away on the day for cash / card only.

Best so far was a 1200 quid mondeo knocked down to 1000, history checked out, had some accident repair but only looked about 30k over its 90k indicated mileage bought three years ago and still running. Air con still doesn't work, passed MOT every year.

Just remember the first rule of sold as seen is to see before buying, and the second rule is to look hard and close!

The concentration of the number of those kind of dealers is purely economic, people want cheap cars, they sell cheap cars. I'm happy to buy a polo with a missing rear wiper and a grubby interior (as long as no obvious blood or bullet holes) but a good engine, clutch and gearbox as you can fix the bits with a good valet and ebay and end up with a good runner for a few hundred quid.

That's really bad advice unless it was a good while ago, you can use the word "black" as its a decriptor you definitely cannot use the word "coloured" as that is now a defined racist term and if used openly in public you would be arrested

Really good, used to do some work in Bradford, and the customer took me to a few curry houses.

I've worked there 28 years know all the good curry houses intimately. Check the Yorkshire Lancashire curry thread we often meet in Bradford

You suspect he knows what the Mexican, Malaysian and Sri Lankan flag look like as well don't you...

Come on sunnydude959, admit it!

:D

I do think a lot of people don't understand what racism is.

Just stating there is a particular problem and a particular culture is known to be involved, is not - even if that statement is anecdotal.

The police could never do their job otherwise.

It doesn't bother me if he admits it, it's complete rubbish that he doesn't know the flag of his parent's neighbouring country. Especially as there has been a long history of conflict between the two, it's not as though the conflict is not in the news or as though it's a tiny country on one has heard of. Quite surprised that you guys on here believe that. Anyway, you're welcome to believe whatever you'd like to, regardless of how ridiculous it may be...

Asian gang culture is well known in Bradford and has always had links to the motor trade. It has been known about in the motor trade for many years. Links to the motor trade, drugs and prostitution are well known. Paedophilia also linked to such gangs. There is nothing racist in me saying this. It is just fact. Go look it up.

Obviously this behaviour is not only the reserve of the Asian here in the UK. Many other cultures living in the UK including your average white UK born man, also indulge in such seedy and disgusting activities.

God I hate this PC ****e where people are scared to post the truth.

The war criminal Tony Blair and his cronies have a lot to answer for. They ruined this country.

I agree that some Asians partake in such behaviour but as the Asian population is very much in the minority, there far more 'white' groups partaking in this but the media likes flouting Asians a lot more. If a white person or group does something then the fact that they're white doesn't seem to be mentioned but if an Asian does something, that tends to dominate the headlines. And it's not that this is a new occurance.

Yep, based on the fact that we are all a colour of one shade or another.

I'm not sure about being arrested however I suppose that, depending on the circumstances, it could be possible.

Who gives a toss what he does think or not, life's to short to be bothered.

Presumably for lunch rather than dinner, then?

Shame to see how the reputation of Bradford has deteriorated over the last 30 years or so. It was a really great place to live grow up in and work in the 60's 70's and early 80's. Thriving 2 and 4 wheel community as well. Many , many happy memories. Was a very wealthy city on the back of the textile industry and at one time boasted one of the highest number of Rollers per head of population in the world. Several RR customers in Bradford got a new one every year when the standard waiting time was 2/3 years.Wealth declined as the textile industry shrank but really good people once you got used to the Yorkshire way of things. Very sad to see the decline but that is apparently progress.
