What Is It With Tinted Front Screens?

Not so long ago somebody in London (Islington/Highbury way) ran over and killed a pedestrian. He had extreme tints (as in Developers pics) on the front, side & rear. The Police demonstrated in court that it was absolutely impossible for ANY driver to be able to see clearly out of the car in broad daylight. At night the problem is magnified (no pun intended).

As for dirty plates. My mate Dave was reported for having his plates obscured (dirty with road salt) in the middle of winter. Dave had to take his car to an MOT station and have them verify that the plates were readable and then return to a Police station with a certificate. Dave has never forgotten this as it made him late for his wife's birthday and caused Dave major hassle.

MSL this morning - a lovely RS6. I wanted to take a few photos of the front screen but I couldn't see if the owner was inside. One of the techs went right upto the glass, peered in and confirmed the car was empty.

If you look at the three shots, there's nothing of the inside visible from outside
Even the camera/sensor in shot 3 is obscured

If someone tried to sell them a television with picture/definition dulled by tinting, they'd tell the seller to do one, but on a car.......:wallbash:

So they can have a 'cleaner' less cluttered front end.

Having a number plate jammed between the dash and screen makes a car look less cluttered ?...I think it makes it look like something just fell off.

You get that a lot on jap cars. It doesn't make the front look cleaner, it makes it stick out like a sore thumb as something is missing.

Round my way the current trend is for the front plate to be on the dash and the rear plate to be black letters on nearly black background. And scooters with no plates at all. I have seen the police pull over examples of all of the above, but I guess the police can't be everywhere all of the time so some get away with it for a while.

Let's hope it's only their own family these weekend gangstas run over and kill because they can't see out of their windscreens.

The scooters with no number plates are a real issue atm in London.

Lots of moped enabled robberies and related crime.

It doesn't help that only a small percentage of officers can pursue 2 wheeled vehicles :/
